Why ski in Aosta Valley Ski Area

The smallest region of Italy located in the Northwest of the country, Aosta Valley boasts spectacular scenery, world-class skiing and snowboarding, food of the highest quality at serious affordable prices and a history stretching back to Roman times.

Bordered by France and Switzerland, the Aosta Valley is surrounded by some of the highest peaks in Europe: Cervino (Matterhorn), Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso and Mont Blanc. At the foothill of these iconic mountains are 20 resorts, over 800 kilometres of slopes, and 10 snow parks with Inghams picking out the best ones.

Professionals or beginners, there is something to discover for everyone in Aosta Valley, from the international resort of Cervinia, nestled between Italy and Switzerland, to the challenging resorts of Monterosa (Champoluc and Gressoney).

Extensive cross-country skiing is available throughout the Aosta Valley, offering a great way to connect with nature while taking in the fresh mountain air and beautiful alpine landscapes.

Beginners and intermediates will love the wide, cruising runs of Cervinia, which boasts the best snow record in Italy and access to some of the highest lifts in Europe. The ski area is linked with Valtournenche and Zermatt in Switzerland, allowing for incredible inter-country skiing opportunities.

Intermediate and advanced skiers are well catered for in Gressoney, with a diverse range of runs through the Ayas Valley. This area is perfect for honing your ski techniques while soaking up the stunning scenery. For those seeking off-piste adventures, head towards Alagna, where you'll find some of the best off-piste terrain in the region.

For all-around skiing, Champoluc ticks all the boxes. The ski school is conveniently located at the top of the Crest lift, while the Frachey lift provides access to some fantastic blue runs. During the week, the slopes are incredibly quiet, often giving you the feeling of a private ski resort with no lift queues and fewer skiers than you might expect elsewhere, perfect for exploring the excellent selection of red runs across the area. You're also just a short ride on the free ski bus from the quiet slopes of Antagnod which is a great place to go for families or those wanting to start off nice and easy.
