Hotel Lac Salin is right at the side of the piste and just 50 metres from the nearest ski lift - you couldn't get a better location for your ski holiday. The centre of Livigno is a short walk away and the nearest bus stop is only 100 metres away so you can get further afield if you want. If you want to try something different, try out one of the hotel's weekly activities - the guided snow shoeing is a fun day out.

Ideal location

The Hotel Lac Salin has a lovely location a short walk away from the main centre of Livigno, where you can find a range of vibrant bars, cafes and restaurants - getting onto the slopes couldn't be easier, the Doss lift is just opposite the hotel and you can venture further afield via the resort bus. Taking the Skilink bus means you can easily get between the two sides of Livigno in only five minutes, there are two routes running between the main lift stations throughout the season.

Local produce

Start your day off at the varied breakfast buffet with tasty pastries, breads, Alpine butter and jams, eggs, local cheeses and sausages. When you return from a day of snowy adventures, you can enjoy a delicious four course evening meal with unique recipes featuring Italian and international cuisine, lovingly prepared with local produce. The majority of ingredients are sourced from Livigno or the Valtellina valley, including milk from the alpine pastures, yogurt and cheese from the local dairy and sausage specialities from the La Tresenda farm. Over 450 fine wines from different regions of Italy are stored in the La Cantina wine cellar, with a focus on wines from the Valtellina valley - be sure to ask the restaurant team for their recommendations.

Wellness and relaxation

There is nowhere better to rejuvenate than the hotels own extensive spa area. Have a dip in the pool and admire the panoramic views of Livigno, or unwind in the whirlpool before soothing any achy ski legs in one of the various saunas and then finish your spa session in the saltwater pool. There's also two relaxation rooms, perfect for a moment of peace and quiet. For the ultimate treat, massages and treatments are also available for a little extra fee.

Livigno

Fast becoming one of the most exciting ski resorts in the Alps, Livigno is making a big name for itself as now confirmed as one of the venues for the 2026 Olympics and it’s easy to see why. Sat not far from the Swiss border, this snow sure resort has an extensive, modern ski area whilst retaining the traditional character of its original three villages.

The town itself sits in the valley where either side of you, the mountains rise up creating two separate ski areas, all linked by the efficiently and free local buses circulating the resort. The unique layout means there are dedicated areas and lifts for beginners straight from resort level, while more experienced skiers and boarders can head to the top and enjoy a huge range of on and off-piste in the area as well as fun parks, boarder cross tracks and for those looking for some serious fun, head to the Mottolino snowpark which has hosted many international freestyle competitions.

Shoppers can take advantage along the traffic free streets in the centre of the resort as not only is there a great selection of shops to choose from, the resort interestingly since the 16th century and to this day holds a duty free status, meaning your money goes much further. Here you will also find a great selection of cafes, restaurants as well as a huge range of non-ski related activities from fat biking to husky sledding, plenty to keep you busy each day.

To end with, rumour has it the ‘Bombardino’ was created in Livigno, so when people ask us is the resort good for après, with around 150 bars to choose from, it most certainly is, possibly the best we have experienced in Italy but why not judge it for yourself and make this your next ski destination.

Meals

Meals at Lac Salin are not just your average bite to eat, a lot of time and effort goes into the menu and sourcing the best quality ingredients, much of which is sourced locally. The hotel also keep the wine cellar stocked up with a wide range of bottles from all around the globe.

Start the day with a a cup of freshly brewed coffee or a pot of herbal tea to accompany the great selection up at the buffet table. Expect fresh breads, jams, local mountain butter, cheeses and meats. You'll also find fruit, juices and fresh eggs.

Dinner is really where the restaurant comes to life. You shouldn't go hungry with four delicious courses to work your way through. We particularly enjoyed the selection of deserts across the buffet table, the perfect way to finish a meal.
