The caring and charismatic Savio, who owns the Hotel San Giovanni welcomes you with open arms, in this small and friendly family run property. The hotel is in an ideal spot, with the ski-lift just 20 metres away, taking you to the Carosello gondola. Skiing back couldn't be easier, as the nearest piste finishes not too far away from the hotel at all.

Livigno centre is just a free bus ride away, around two kilometres. The bus service will also get to and from the lifts if you want to ski on the Mottolino side of the mountain range. Once you get back from the slopes, the hotel has a lounge area and cosy bar for a post ski drink or if the weather is nice, simply step outside onto the piste-side terrace and enjoy the views. The bar is open to the public so there is a good little après ski atmosphere around. If perhaps you are a little peckish after a day carving up the mountain, why not treat yourself to a snack from the hotel's pizzeria.

Hopefully you haven't filled up on too much pizza after skiing as the hotel’s restaurant dish up three delicious courses of homemade traditional Italian cooking. The chefs serve a number of local delicacies and have a very good wine cellar for you to find a great matching choice to pair with your meal, don't worry, help is on hand if you need it. After dinner and no doubt a long day, retire to one of the hotels 20 cosy rooms before doing it all again the following day.

Livigno

Fast becoming one of the most exciting ski resorts in the Alps, Livigno is making a big name for itself as now confirmed as one of the venues for the 2026 Olympics and it’s easy to see why. Sat not far from the Swiss border, this snow sure resort has an extensive, modern ski area whilst retaining the traditional character of its original three villages.

The town itself sits in the valley where either side of you, the mountains rise up creating two separate ski areas, all linked by the efficiently and free local buses circulating the resort. The unique layout means there are dedicated areas and lifts for beginners straight from resort level, while more experienced skiers and boarders can head to the top and enjoy a huge range of on and off-piste in the area as well as fun parks, boarder cross tracks and for those looking for some serious fun, head to the Mottolino snowpark which has hosted many international freestyle competitions.

Shoppers can take advantage along the traffic free streets in the centre of the resort as not only is there a great selection of shops to choose from, the resort interestingly since the 16th century and to this day holds a duty free status, meaning your money goes much further. Here you will also find a great selection of cafes, restaurants as well as a huge range of non-ski related activities from fat biking to husky sledding, plenty to keep you busy each day.

To end with, rumour has it the ‘Bombardino’ was created in Livigno, so when people ask us is the resort good for après, with around 150 bars to pick from, it most certainly is, possibly the best we have experienced in Italy but why not judge it for yourself and make this your next ski destination.
