You'll be welcomed into Hotel San Giovanni with open arms. This small and friendly family-run hotel has an ideal location 20 metres away from the ski lift. It'll connect you to the Carosello gondola and you can ski almost all the way back to the hotel. The centre of Livigno is around two kilometres and easy to get to on the free resort bus that also goes to the lifts for the Mottolino side of the mountain.

Once you get back from the slopes, the hotel has a lounge area and cosy bar for a post-ski drink. The bar's open to the public so there is a good après atmosphere. If you're a little peckish, treat yourself to a snack from the hotel's pizzeria. The hotel is bed and breakfast but we recommend eating in their restaurant at least a few times. They serve traditional Italian meals and have very good wine cellar.

Livigno

Fast becoming one of the most exciting ski resorts in the Alps, Livigno is making a big name for itself as now confirmed as one of the venues for the 2026 Olympics and it’s easy to see why. Sat not far from the Swiss border, this snow sure resort has an extensive, modern ski area whilst retaining the traditional character of its original three villages.

The town itself sits in the valley where either side of you, the mountains rise up creating two separate ski areas, all linked by the efficiently and free local buses circulating the resort. The unique layout means there are dedicated areas and lifts for beginners straight from resort level, while more experienced skiers and boarders can head to the top and enjoy a huge range of on and off-piste in the area as well as fun parks, boarder cross tracks and for those looking for some serious fun, head to the Mottolino snowpark which has hosted many international freestyle competitions.

Shoppers can take advantage along the traffic free streets in the centre of the resort as not only is there a great selection of shops to choose from, the resort interestingly since the 16th century and to this day holds a duty free status, meaning your money goes much further. Here you will also find a great selection of cafes, restaurants as well as a huge range of non-ski related activities from fat biking to husky sledding, plenty to keep you busy each day.

To end with, rumour has it the ‘Bombardino’ was created in Livigno, so when people ask us is the resort good for après, with around 150 bars to choose from, it most certainly is, possibly the best we have experienced in Italy but why not judge it for yourself and make this your next ski destination.
