Discover Sauze d'Oulx

Sauze d'Oulx sits at 1,509m on the sunny balcony of the Susa Valley (just an hour from Turin) and it's the kind of place that gets under your skin. This is a real Italian mountain village: winding cobbled streets, an authentic old town and locals who have been welcoming visitors for generations. No through traffic, no concrete tower blocks, no identikit resort centre. Just great skiing, genuinely good food and the warmth of somewhere that feels lived-in and loved.

The skiing spans 400km across the Via Lattea - the Milky Way - connecting Sauze with Sestriere, Sansicario, Claviere, and across the French border into Montgenèvre. Mostly north and west-facing, the snow bowl above the village holds its conditions well, and 60% artificial snow cover provides a reliable backup. There's mostly red runs here, making Sauze ideal for intermediates ready to explore, with long tree-lined descents giving way to open, sunny cruises that you'll want to do again and again.

The old town is compact enough to explore on foot but full enough to fill a week of evenings — Piemontese cooking, aperitivo culture, a Friday night buzz and locals who are as likely to share their table as their recommendations. What's not to love about Sauze d'Ouix?
