When you stay at the Sport Hotel Barisetti, you’ll understand why so many people go back year after year. It’s incredibly welcoming and you’re instantly made to feel at home. The location’s fantastic with some of the best mountain views in town. The main shopping centre of Cortina is 700 metres away and the Freccia nel Cielo cable car is just 50 metres from the hotel door. Jump on and spend the day on the Tofanes ski area, where the Ski World Cup usually takes place. You can pretty much ski back to the door. If you want to explore more ski areas, there’s a handy shuttle bus that’ll take you.

There’s plenty going on in the evenings in Cortina if you fancy venturing out. The walk will take about 15 minutes. We love spending time in the hotel’s own bar though, chatting about our day with the friendly staff and ordering another Aperol. If you get back in time, head for the sauna and steam bath to ease the ski legs before dinner.

Transfer time: approx. 3 hours from Innsbruck airport.

Cortina D’Ampezzo

There’s only one! The Olympic resort of Cortina D’Ampezzo is one of the most filmed, photographed, skied and visited resorts in the Italian Alps. Located east of the Sellaronda circuit, it’s not called the 'Queen of the Dolomites' for nothing. It’s renowned for the excellent selection of skiing as well as superb accommodation, bars, restaurants and shopping. The main skiing areas are the Cortina Cube (Socrepes, Faloria and Mietres), Tofana, and Lagazuoi - 5 Torri, with plenty of challenging runs as well as some of the most amazing views. The areas are either linked by the impressive network of lifts or local ski buses and for Winter 2021 will see a number of new and improved lifts cutting both queues and CO2 emissions. The Tofana area has a women's downhill World Cup run, which Cortina hosts each January and this winter will hold the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in February, inviting some of the worlds best skiers for an event not to be missed. For people-watchers, the evening highlight is the passeggiata (stroll) along the Corso Italia by fur-and-jewellery clad visitors from Milan and Venice wandering through antique shops, designer boutiques and bars.

Inghams operate a telephone rep service in Cortina. For a smoother in resort experience, we recommend pre-booking the following before you travel; Lift passes, ski equipment hire and/or tuition.
