Welcome to the Star Arctic! A modern and stylish hotel boasting spacious Lappish-style suites and Aurora cabins.  A great choice for those looking for an intimate and exclusive feel stay, it is located at the top of Kaunispaä fell, away from the light pollution of the village centre and an excellent spot from which to view the Northern Lights.

The unique aspect of the Star Arctic has to be the rooms. All of the suites are located within their own buildings a short walk from the main reception and restaurant area.  Scenic View Suites are duplex with a large glass window looking out over the main village.  The bedroom area (twin or double) is located at the top of the duplex stairs (fairly steep), and have their own north-facing window.  Scenic View Suites with sauna and kitchenette are also available adding more comfort and space.

For an unforgettable experience, opt to spend your stay in an Aurora Glass Cabin where you can truly immerse in the nature of Lapland and even admire the Northern Lights from your bed (we also enjoy the colourful light settings controlled by the main remote- but we don't want to spoil all the surprises)!

Enjoy casual dining in the hotel's restaurant, also boasting beautiful views across the fell. Natural ingredients are sourced from the local area including fish from the Inari region and reindeer from traditional Sami farms plus their full menu, originally crafted by Finnish Michelin Star Chef Jouni Toivanen, combines local Lappish flavours with popular modern cuisines bringing a uniquely elegant and casual choice for all. Enjoy a buffet breakfast and a multi course dinner served to the table.

There is now the offering to stay at the Star Arctic for a Lapland Short Break! Experience some of the best included activities, please see the 'Special Offers' tab for further details on this package.

The hotel is located approximately 2km from the Saariselka centre and Inghams excursion pick-up point, which can be reached by ski bus or 30-minutes' pleasant walk.  The hotel also provides a shuttle service on request at a small fee of €5 per person per way, paid locally.  The hotel has a public sauna, well-equipped gym with large glass windows, modern restaurant and lobby bar, all located in the main building.

Saariselka

Located in the wild mystical north of Lapland, Saariselkä is an exceptionally friendly uncommercialised resort with a unique frontier atmosphere. With magnificent Arctic wilderness scenery just on the doorstep, it makes an ideal resort for an all-round winter wonderland adventure. The skies are often a deep hue of pink and purple, the pine trees heavily laden with snow, and being so far north there is a good possibility of seeing the Northern Lights too.

Here you are deep in Sámi country, the colourful native people of Lapland, many of whom work in the resort and have their own reindeer herds in forests nearby. Saariselkä is renowned for its excellent cross-country ski trails in the adjoining National Park. With cosy cafes and the charming Panimo Bar for a hot chocolate to live music. For a really memorable experience sleep under the magical night sky in a cosy thermal glass igloo.

There is now the opportunity to visit magical Lapland for a short break! Have a weekend away in the arctic circle and experience some of the best activities, from aurora hunts to reindeer and husky sleigh rides. With a choice of two amazing hotels, the Star Arctic Hotel and Muotka Wilderness Lodge, to help create the perfect four days in Saariselkä.

Northern Lights Adventure: Experience a '7 Night Adventure' at the Muotka Wilderness Lodge or combine with a visit to Saariselkä with our 'Muotka 2-Centre Adventure'. You can also enjoy a Lapland Short Break at either Muotka Wilderness Lodge or Star Arctic Hotel.
