Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

The new Star Arctic Hotel opened it's doors in December 2017 to welcome its first guests to its modern, Lappish-style suites.  A great choice for a special occasion, it is located at the top of Kaunispaä fell, away from the light pollution of the village centre and an excellent spot from which to view the Northern Lights.  Guests can sit back and relax in their room to hopefully see them from the large panels windows in each of the rooms.

All of the suites, located in their own buildings a short walk from the main reception and restaurant area, are duplex with a large glass window looking out over the main village.  The bedroom area is located at the top of the duplex stairs (fairly steep), and have their own north-facing window.  The hotel is located approximately 2km from the Saariselka centre and Inghams excursion pick-up point, which can be reached by ski bus or 30-minutes' pleasant walk.  The hotel also provides a shuttle service on request at a small fee of €5 per person per way, paid locally.  The hotel has a public sauna, well-equipped gym with large glass windows, modern restaurant and lobby bar, all located in the main building.  Our prices are based on half board for all dates. Guests staying between 23 -26 December will have full board included on these nights, and those staying for 25 December and 31 December will enjoy extended buffet dinners at the hotel.

Saariselka

Located in the wild mystical north of Lapland, close to Russia and just a few hours from the Arctic Ocean, Saariselkä is an exceptionally friendly uncommercialised resort with a unique frontier atmosphere. With magnificent Arctic wilderness scenery just on the doorstep, it makes an ideal resort for an all-round winter wonderland adventure. The skies are often a deep hue of pink and purple, the pine trees heavily laden with snow, and being so far north there is a good possibility of seeing the Northern Lights too. Here you are deep in Sámi country, the colourful native people of Lapland, many of whom work in the resort and have their own reindeer herds in forests nearby. Saariselkä is renowned for its excellent cross-country ski trails in the adjoining national park. For a really memorable experience sleep under the magical night sky in a cosy thermal glass igloo.
