An extensive breakfast buffet with a range of options including a classic continental offering is served each morning and when you have returned from a day on the slopes a delicious evening meal awaits you -plus once a week you can enjoy a traditional fondue evening.

If you want to treat yourself to a traditional Swiss fondue 'Cava' is an excellent choice,  serving a variety of fondues in a rustic style cellar restaurant. Alternatively the à la carte  Föhrenstube has a range of Bernese specialities and classic favourites on the menu.

When you have returned for the day head to the Gaststube - a spot where locals and tourists gather to enjoy a drinks or two in a cosy café-bar.

The village railway is conveniently located just opposite the hotel, and the bus station is just a short walk away - catch the bus to the First gondola and head up the active mountain, ski the day away or fly through the alps on a 800 metre long zip line - there is also a viewing platform with incredible views of the surrounding mountain peaks.

You can also head to the Grindelwald Terminal station by bus or train, from here you can head up the Eiger Glacier or make your way over to Wengen via the Männlichen gondola.

Grindelwald

  • Ski from an altitude of 2,970 metres in the Jungfrau Ski Region
  • 211 kilometres of pistes across the whole ski area
  • 27 blue, 36 red and 19 black runs
  • Excellent non-ski activities including winter walking and sledging

Grindelwald is Mecca for fans of all winter pursuits, with immaculately groomed pistes, prepared hiking paths, sled runs and even zip lines included in the area pass - thrill seekers will love the First Flyer and Glider zip lines. The village is in a pretty spectacular location in the valley, beneath the towering north face of the Eiger, surrounded by mountains. Access to the large ski area of the Jungfrau region couldn't be easer using the excellent network of mountain trains, buses and cable-cars. You'll be carving your way around the three linked ski areas in no time: Grindelwald-First, Grindelwald-Wengen and Mürren-Schilthorn. You can even tackle the challenging Lauberhorn race run, have lunch in Wengen, and still be home in time for tea.

Skiing and Snowboarding in Grindelwald

Investments into the modern lift network has made getting around even easier from the Grindelwald Terminal station. The Eiger Express gets you to the glacier in record time and links up to the railway to take you up to the Jungfrau - Top of Europe (payable locally). While the Männlichen gondola leads to a network of some of the longest cruisy runs in the region and access to the Kleine Scheidegg and Wengen ski area areas. We'd still recommend travelling the more traditional way on the scenic cog railway, especially if you're heading for some high altitude skiing from the Schiltorn in Mürren.
