Touch and taste nature on this varied itinerary, which brings you closer to the region’s unique seascapes through boat trips, history, local culture and delicious food. Based in the small harbour town of Harstad, known as Northern Norway’s culinary centre, you’ll venture out each day into the surrounding wintery landscape of this untouched part of the world, to meet the locals, discover the fascinating war history and taste the ‘food of the fjords’ in one of Harstad’s top restaurants, ‘Umami'.
There is plenty of opportunity to create lasting memories both on land and out on the glistening fjord waters with our organised excursions, included in the price of your holiday. Of course, you’ll also have opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis on our included ‘In Search of the Northern Lights’ evening excursion, but they can also often be seen from Harstad centre.
Choose from a 3 or 4 night tour (for day-by-day details, view the Your Itinerary tab below) and head out from your 4* harbour-front hotel at Harstad each day to discover this magnificent region of fjords, mountains, northern lights and Arctic Circle adventures. Daily meals are included so the only money you’ll really need to bring is for the souvenirs you’ll want to take home!
We have everything organised for you, all you’ll need to do is concentrate on taking in the scenery, capturing those memories on camera and enjoying your holiday! Thermal suits, hats, gloves and footwear are provided for the RIB boat sea safari.
Harstad, known as the culinary centre of Northern Norway for its excellent selection of good restaurants, is a small, attractive harbour town with a pretty market square at its heart, set on the tip of Norway's largest coastal island, Hinnøya. The waters of the Vågsfjorden lie beyond its harbour, whilst snow-capped mountains rise dramatically behind, almost from the water's edge.

Being on the coast, the weather here is changeable so make sure you pack layers. However, even though you’re above the Arctic Circle, temperatures are not as low as you may think at this time of year, with the average in mid-February to March being approx. -2°C. The weather and climate are relatively mild compared to other inland areas in Northern Scandinavia - just one of the many benefits of staying right on the coast and its fjords.
