4 nights from £1,169 (15, 22 February 2017)
Feel the true nature of the Northern fjords in the beautiful archipelago of Vesterålen, known as the ‘Kingdom of the Whales’ and one of Northern Norway’s most spectacular regions, known for its contrasting scenery from peaceful sandy beaches to rugged mountains. Based in the centre of the region, in the ‘Blue City’ of Sortland, known for its many bright blue coloured buildings, you’ll venture out each day to discover the area’s Arctic wildlife, varying landscapes and important fishing history on our organised excursions, including a once-in-a-lifetime whale watching trip from Åndenes. Two evening safaris into the surrounding wilderness are also included to maximise your chances of seeing the amazing Northern Lights.

Being on the coast, the weather here is changeable so make sure you pack layers. However, even though you’re above the Arctic Circle, temperatures are not as low as you may think at this time of year, with the average in March being approx. -2°C. The weather and climate are relatively mild compared to other inland areas in Northern Scandinavia - just one of the many benefits of staying right on the coast and its fjords.
