Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

Palace Hotel San Pietro is in the historical district of Bardolino, which means it’s central but tucked away in a peaceful street. The town’s shops, bars and restaurants are all an easy walk away and the lake is just 200 metres from the hotel.

It's a family-run hotel with just 43 rooms and the service is excellent, encouraging people return year after year. It’s extremely well-maintained with beautiful public areas and comfy rooms that are light and airy thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. You can choose to upgrade to a room with a balcony too.

Although small, the pool is a welcome addition. It’s heated to 28 degrees and surrounded by well-manicured gardens. From the roof top terrace, you'll have some of the best views over the lake and it's also where breakfast is served. We love relaxing here with a cappuccino before heading out to explore for the day.

Transfer time: approx. 45 mins by coach from Verona airport.

Bardolino

A holiday to Bardolino means enjoying lots of excellent wines. The town's surrounded by a stunning scene of orchards, olive groves and vineyards. Plan your trip for around the end of September and you’ll be able to enjoy the Bardolino Wine Festival that celebrates the town’s namesake wine - a light, fruity red that pairs perfectly with fish.

It’s not just about the wine though. The town has a busy main square filled with cafés, restaurants and upmarket shops. Evening choir and music concerts are often held here during the summer, making it a great place to spend an evening people watching and enjoying local food. The square leads down to a pretty harbor where you’ll find miles of lakeside promenade that’s perfect for walking or cycling - it’ll take you all the way to the neighbouring resort of Garda. If you’re after something more strenuous, there are plenty of walking trails nearby. Choose from over 20 that head up into the hills that surround the town. Some of these lead to towns on the lake while others take you to some fantastic viewing spots of the sparkling lake from above.
