Hotel Sunstar is a spacious and welcoming hotel, boasting elegant interior in the lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant. Ideally located opposite the 'First' gondola and close to central Grindelwald. Made up of two building connected via reception, the lovely sun terrace and gardens provide the perfect space to unwind. 

A large indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, chilled baths, solarium and large gym provide further space for relaxation. The Roman-irish bath includes 4 climate zones - Laconium, Caldarium, Odorium, Tepidarium. Amble around the gardens or sun terrace with views of the imposing Eiger Mountains. There is a live pianist and activity programme. Evening meals are served in the ambient restaurant or á la carte Adler stube. (confirmed locally)

Rooms

Standard Twin Rooms are around 20-22m² and sleep up to three people (extra rollaway bed). These rooms have a bath and balcony with north facing views towards the Wetterhorn and First Mountains. All rooms have TV with English speaking channels, telephone, radio, safe, minibar and hairdryer.

Eiger Standard Rooms are around 24-26m² and also sleep up to three people. These rooms have a bath and south facing balcony with views of the Eiger and Kleine Scheidegg.

Standard Single Rooms have a bath or shower and north facing balcony.

Grindelwald

Set at the foot of the impressive ‘North Face’ of the Eiger, with its dramatic glaciers in full view, Grindelwald is a friendly mountain village with chalet-style houses, cafés, restaurants and a good variety of shops. This is fantastic walking country, and Grindelwald has easy access by rail, cable-car and gondola, to both sides of the valley, encompassing a lion’s share of the Jungfrau region’s best paths. Take the ‘First’ gondola from the village for fabulous, scenic walks, or the ‘Männlichen’ gondola to meet the cable-car down to Wengen. The highlight of the region is to travel on one of the world’s most famous railway journeys through the Eiger to the Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest railway station’, at 3,454m. Things to Do

On 13 December 2019, the Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway (GGM), as well as the new “Grindelwald Terminal” stop on the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB), were officially opened.

The trip in the modern 10-passenger gondolas up to the mountain station 2,225 metres above sea level takes just 19 minutes, compared with 30 minutes previously. 

Aside from Gondolas, cables cars and mountain railways, the Grindelwald bus routes extend to the mountainsides giving you great access to the regions popular hiking routes including Busalp or Waldspitz and Grosse Scheidegg. Enjoy the splendid views, the lovely mountain restaurants and even an Alpine cheese festival that takes place in September.

Buses go from the bus station opposite the train station so getting around Switzerland's public transport is easy. You can also hop on the bus route nearby and if a necessary change at the bus station.
