Beginners skiing and snowboarding in St. Johann

The nursery slopes are located at the bottom of both the Harschbichl and Eichenhof lifts and St. Johann's friendly ski instructors will ensure your quick progress on the picturesque slopes - the ideal place to learn to ski. These two learning areas are on the opposite side of resort and both can be accessed by using the local bus.

Intermediate skiing & snowboarding in St. Johann

Intermediates are bound to enjoy the tree-lined slopes and red runs of the Harschbichl, especially the descent from the Jodalm. A free ski bus means that skiing options can be extended to Steinplatte and Fieberbrunn areas. St. Johann has many fun reds with 43km in total and it is located in the middle of the aforementioned ski resorts meaning it is easy to get around.

Advanced skiing & snowboarding in St. Johann

Advanced skiers and boarders will enjoy the black Penzing descent down to Oberndorf as well as the long, steeper decents in Fieberbrunn. There is a black run that is 3.5km long.

 

St. Johann is a genuine hot spot for cross-country skiers with over 170 kilometres of trails varying in all difficulty levels. Every town in the region has central access points to the big network of trails and use of these trails is free. 

More difficult trails with tough ascents can be found in the  Hinterkaiser area or in Bichlach. There are also well-lit night-time trails so you can do some circuits when the sun has gone down. 

Cross-country skiers also get free use of the resort ski bus.

We provide two hotels in St. Johann that are both great choices for your ski holiday. Sporthotel Austria offers a warm welcome to guests and is located just three minutes' walk to the ski lifts. COOEE Alpin Hotel is comfortable and modern, located close to the bus stop with direct access to the Harschbichl gondola and you can ski back to the hotel when snow conditions are good.

St. Johann is a pretty resort ideally placed in the centre of the Kitzbüheler Alpen in Tirol. This resort is charming and creates a cosy small-town feel with some of its main focuses put on children and families. In the local area there are 10 lifts and 40 kilometres of pistes covering St Johann and Oberndorf. Although it is not the biggest ski area, the variety offered is exceptional with fantastic options for both beginners and advanced skiers and boarders. St. Johann is also a superb resort for cross-country skiing, with tracks in all directions offering a network of 275km of trails. 

The towns of St. Johann in Tirol, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf, and Erpfendorf offer a wonderful variety of dining options. You'll find everything from cosy restaurants and charming alpine huts to convenient snack bars and delightful cafés. Whatever you're in the mood for, there's a perfect spot waiting for you.

Things to do in St. Johann in Tirol

Ice skating is a fantastic activity that brings the whole family together. The artificial ice rink at Panorama Badewelt in St. Johann offers a great alternative to skiing if you'd like to try something different but equally as fun. 

It is well worth exploring St. Johann away from the pistes - take a snow-shoe tour with a guide who will show you some of the best secluded areas around the resort. 

Explore the variety of natural toboggan runs across resort and take in the snowy scenery as you race each other down the mountains. The Bacheralm run in the town of Gasteig in Kirchdorf also provides the option of tractor transport - which means you get to enjoy fun tobogganing, minus the walk.
