If you’re going on a ski holiday with friends or family but skiing isn’t your thing - or maybe you just want a break from the skis - don’t worry. Inghams’ resorts offer plenty of ways to fill your days with adventure, relaxation, food, and culture. Non-skier-friendly itinerary 

Here’s what a week could look like in an Inghams winter for non-skiers: 

Day 1-  You’ve arrived! Take a walk around the resort centre to get your baring's and pop into a shop or two, find a local café or an apres-ski bar. 

Day 2 -  Join a morning snowshoe walk or guided winter walk with lunch in a mountain restaurant reached by cable car. Finish your day with an evening ice skating session.  

Day 3 –  Try a husky ride and/or horse-drawn sleigh, then enjoy a special dinner in a mountain hut. 

Day 4 -  Relax with a late brunch, then onto ither your accommodations wellness facilities or book a spa day. Onto evening live music at one of the resorts bars. 

Day 5 - Pop into the local museums in the area, ither locally in resort or hop on the bus to the next nearest towns. If you have children with you, make the most of the resorts indoor facilities that usually have everything from cinemas, sports halls, swimming pools and bowling alleys.  

Day 6 -  Make the most of the peace and quiet and read by a fire during the day and then book a wine tasting for the evening. 

Day 7-  Sadly time to pack but pop out for a bit of souvenir-shopping before you leave.

 

Non-skier activities in resort 

With an Inghams holiday, we want to ensure you have the best holiday on or off the slopes. Here are just a few, but specially selected highlights that you can enjoy across our resorts. 

Obergurgl, Austria  

Situated in the Otz Valley, with fantastic snow records – the resort of Obergurgl offers top-quality hotels, family-friendly facilities, and a great ski school, it’s long been a favourite with Inghams guests.  

The village has a welcoming atmosphere, from rustic mountain huts and lively après spots like the famous Nederhütte, making it the perfect blend of scenic skiing or activities, luxury comfort and alpine charm. 

A celebration of the country's finest vintages. This prebookable experience is hosted every Tuesday at the Austria Gourmet & Wine Hotel. Your experienced sommelier is Maximillian, son of the hotel owner and winner of Austria's wine sommelier of the year 2023.

The tasting features 8 wines from the Tyrol region, typically four red and four white wines to try. The tasting also includes AMAX, Maximillian’s own wine which he created with his sister Anna. Approx. £67 per person

between the Hotel Enzian and the adjacent Obergurgl mountain slope, lies a picturesque ice rink, located directly across from the historic mountaineering chapel dedicated to St. Bernhard. As night falls, the rink transforms into a winter wonderland, illuminated by enchanting floodlights.

Laax, Switzerland 

Laax is Switzerland’s freestyle capital, boasting 220km of slopes. Beyond the mountains, it blends alpine scenery with a creative, modern vibe – think inventive dining, lively après, stylish hotels and a focus on sustainability.

Hop on your sled and enjoy the fun descent from Foppa to Flims, winding through the forest on a piste prepared just for tobogganing. Once at the valley station, simply take the chairlift back up and go again! Or, for a longer ride, head to Curnius and race down the 3.5-kilometre run to Falera. With good snow conditions, it’s open daily—and the Falera-Curnius chairlift makes it easy to do lap after lap. 

Experience the Senda dil Dragun (The Dragon Path) - the world’s longest treetop walkway. The 1.56km path links Laax Murschetg and Laax Dorf. Enjoy stunning views over snow-dusted forests, four scenic platforms, adventure spots, marble runs, and even a slide - it's an exciting winter walk for all ages.

Cervinia, Italy 

Cervinia, one of Europe’s highest ski resorts, combines reliable snow, a glacier, and breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. Enjoy Italian flair in bars and restaurants or browse boutiques and local delicatessens along the pedestrian-friendly village streets.

Enjoy skating around the natural ice rink in Cervinia with incredible views of the Matterhorn. The open-air ice rink is open from November to March, and is illuminated so you can enjoy skating under the stars. 

 The skating rink has a non-stop bar and restaurant service, often with themed evenings, karaoke and après ski.  

Snowshoeing in Cervinia offers scenic trails for all levels, including routes in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche. Enjoy panoramic views of the Matterhorn.

La Clusaz, France  

La Clusaz is a charming Savoyard resort, known for its rustic village centre. Showcasing traditional restaurants serving regional specialties, and welcoming  bars with live music. Visitors can unwind at the Aravis Aqua Centre with pools, saunas and wellness facilities, explore local markets, or soak up the historic charm, including its 200-year-old church.

For the more adventurous, experience La Clusaz from the sky by going on a paragliding flight over the Aravis mountains. 

For a bit of evening entertainment head to the resorts bowling alley for a game or two, there is also an arcade with a number of simulators and a dart board. 

Banff, Canada 

Banff, set in the heart of Canada’s Banff National Park, is a vibrant winter destination offering far more than skiing. The town itself buzzes with over 130 bars and restaurants, from casual pubs to fine dining and scenic spots along the Bow River offer relaxation. Rich in history and culture, Banff also features museums, Indigenous experiences, and arts centres that celebrate the heritage of the Rockies and its communities.

The Johnston Canyon Icewalk traverses a series of steel catwalks that give spectacular views of the Johnston Canyon below. This popular ice walk leads you past the lower falls and to the breath-taking upper icefalls. Travel through prime wildlife habitat and learn the clues to how Johnston Canyon was formed.

The hot springs in Banff offer a relaxing and rejuvenating experience amidst the stunning scenery of the Canadian Rockies. The most famous is the Banff Upper Hot Springs, located at an elevation of 1,585 meters, making it the highest operational hot springs in Canada.

Here, you can soak in the mineral-rich waters while enjoying breathtaking views of Mount Rundle and Cascade Mountain.

The facility features an outdoor pool, a historic bathhouse, and amenities like a cafe and gift shop.

The water temperature is maintained between 37°C and 40°C (98°F to 104°F), perfect for a soothing soak after a day of exploring.

The Banff Upper Hot Springs are open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, making it convenient to fit into your schedule.

Soldeu, Andorra  

Soldeu, nestled in the Grandvalira ski area, combines Catalan charm with competitive ski slopes. Enjoy the best of resort offerings from spa days, restaurants, winter sports and make the most of duty-free shopping whilst there.

Jump on a snowmobile and experience Soldeu to the fullest. Make the most of the guided tours that are available or create your own adventure and follow marked trails alone. If you're hoping for a little more excitement, night tours are also available in resort through request. Snowmobile drivers are required to be 18 years and over but children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

The Grandvalira zipline, 40 meters high and 550 meters long, gives you some of the best possible views of the mountains and Llac del Forn lake. You can either sit down and cruise or if you're feeling daring enough ride horizontally and prepare to fly. 

Myrkdalen, Norway  

Myrkdalen, set amid Norway’s stunning fjords and valleys, is a charming alpine village with cosy cafés, local restaurants, and high-standard ski-in/ski-out accommodation.

What could be better than relaxing your muscles after a day on the slopes in a sauna that's surrounded by fantastic mountain views? The mountain sauna is near the ski slopes, just a 5-minute walk from the Myrkdalen Hotel. Book your drop-in slot at the hotel reception before heading over to the sauna. There is no shower in the building, but there is plenty of snow you can use to cool down with an exhilarating rush after your session.

Norway is known for its stunning scenery and dramatic fjords and we’d recommend visiting these during your stay. This fantastic day trip allows you to experience both, taking you on a cruise down one of Norway's most iconic fjords, followed by a roundtrip on the Flåm Railway – voted as one of the most scenic train routes in the world. Your day will start with a bus trip from Myrkdalen to Gudvangen. Here, you’ll jump on one of the electric cruise ships, holding up to 400 people, and slowly make your way down the Nærøyfjord towards the small town of Flåm. The boat trip takes roughly 2 hours, and you’ll be able to soak in all the views, take pictures of the steep mountains and grab a bite to eat from the onboard café. Once docked up in Flåm, you’ll then hop on the Flåm Train for your round trip through the mountains. Both sides of the train offer fantastic views of snow-capped mountains, frozen waterfalls and deep valleys - you’ll even pass through the mountains in the many man-made tunnels. The train trip takes just under 2 hours, and once back in Flåm you’ll get back on the bus before heading back to your accommodation in Myrkdalen.  

Levi, Finland  

Boasting Finland’s best and most extensive ski area with snow-sure, uncrowded slopes set in stunning natural surroundings. Make the most of the true Arctic adventures from husky sledding, reindeer sleighs and snowmobiling during the day and local cuisine in the evenings.

Is spotting the Northern Lights high on your bucket list? Why not book an overnight stay in a magical glass igloo. These unique igloos offer an unparalleled view of the starry night sky, and if you're lucky, the mesmerising Northern Lights. Fall asleep under a blanket of stars, surrounded by the enchanting snow-covered forests, and wake up to breathtaking views of the Lappish landscape. Don’t worry about trying to stay awake into the early hours, a wake-up call is provided when the light display is overhead to ensure you don’t miss a moment.

Northern Light Stays

Step into the magical Lainio Snow Village, a true Arctic marvel made entirely out of snow and ice. Situated 200 km above the Arctic Circle, this extraordinary hotel is crafted each winter from over 400,000 kilos of ice and 45,000 cubic meters of snow.
