Fernie has a cult status amongst stronger skiers and snow boarders. It’s celebrated for its steep and deep, and its extensive off piste. So Fernie is one of the best resorts for enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders looking for new peaks to conquer. Fernie Alpine Village Resort offers doorstep skiing in the midst of the rugged peaks of the British Columbia’s Rockies, just four miles from downtown Fernie, an historic village with friendly and laid back locals. Fernie also has a reputation for excellent snow records, powder bowls, trees and few crowds allowing you maximum skiing time. It’s a snowboarders’ paradise too, with high peaks, ‘steep and deep’ terrain, and spectacular scenery. The opening of a lift to Polar Peak has given Fernie the biggest vertical in the Canadian Rockies (3550ft). Real powder hounds should try the local snow-cat skiing. The evening shuttle makes it easy to explore the lively bars, restaurants and shops both in the Alpine Village and downtown Fernie.

Advanced skiing in Fernie
Skiers will never tire of gliding through the glades, flying down chutes and tackling the steep terrain on Lizard and Currie bowl. Real powder hounds should try a day of snowcat sking with a guide.
