If you're looking for easy access to the slopes, Sporthotel Panorama's the place for you. It’s got a piste-side location 1,700 metres above Corvara, so grabbing your skis and getting down the mountain couldn’t be easier. The centre of Covara is around fifteen minutes walk away, or you can make the most of the shuttle service.

Slope access

Set above the resort of Covara, the Sporthotel has wonderful views of the surrounding mountain peaks and even better access to the slopes. The Arlaral lift is a snowballs throw away giving you access for cruisy blues and reds - perfect for the first run of the day. When its time to return home, there is no need to rush back as you can ski straight back to the door. The centre of Covara is a fifteen minute walk away or you can hop on the shuttle bus.

Alpine style

The Costamoling family and their team loving run the Sporthotel, offering typical Tyrolean hospitality with a smile. Furnished in a traditional Alpine style, the hotel provides a cosy retreat in Covara. The spacious rooms are traditional with lot's of pine furniture and wood panelling, each equipped with all of the modern conveniences needed for a comfortable stay in the Dolomites. Most of the rooms are located in the main building, however there are also some in the adjacent building across the road, connected by an underground passageway.

The meals are hearty and filling. Fuel up for a day on the Sellaronda at the extensive breakfast buffet, and when you return enjoy a delicious four course evening meal. The menu often includes a mix of local and international dishes, featuring natural ingredients which showcase the best of the region’s cuisine. The hotel also has an à la carte restaurant, Stüa Ladina, serving a variety of different dishes in a cosy Alpine style restaurant (pay locally). Don’t forget to order a bottle of local wine to go with your meal.

Soothing spa

There is nowhere better to unwind than in the hotels wellness area. Have a dip in the panoramic indoor pool before heading to the spa area with a variety of different saunas. Choose between the Finnish sauna, crystal sauna, hayshed sauna, or the infrared sauna - there is also a Turkish steam bath, Kneipp and immersion pool. If you fancy a bit of pampering, book in for a massage – it'll refresh you before another day of skiing.

Corvara & Colfosco

Corvara and Colfosco are delightful villages nestled in the Alta Badia region of the Dolomites and have been enjoyed by British skiers for many years. Ideally located on the Sellaronda circuit, they have easy access to the main slopes including connections to Arabba, Selva, Val di Fassa and the exhilarating Marmolada glacier. The local ski areas of La Villa and San Cassiano also boast superb skiing amidst inspiring scenery. Corvara (1568m) at the foot of the dramatic Mt.Sassongher and two mountain passes - the Passo Gardena and Passo Campolongo - offers a range of boutique shops and cafes, and some great après-ski bars such as the 'El Murin' which you can ski back to and dance there in your ski boots. There’s an indoor ice-stadium too. Colfosco is a pretty village next door to Corvara, which shares the same welcoming atmosphere and is just as well placed to maximise the vast skiing opportunities the Alta Badia ski region has to offer.

Colfosco

There’s a lot more to Colfosco – close to the slopes of Passo Gardena - than just a link with the legendary Sellaronda circuit! Or just being neighbouring Corvara’s “little brother” a mile or so away. This delightful village in the Alta Badia region of the stunning Dolomites, with its Gothic church,  maybe smaller and quieter, but it has a distinct charm of its own and some good hotels and restaurants. Apart from the Sellaronda, the best local skiing is “up the road” at Corvara, taking in the excellent “local” slopes of La Villa and San Cassiano. Both villages also have access to the ski areas of Arabba, Selva, Val di Fassa and the iconic Marmolada glacier. Colfosco is the final destination for one of the great off-piste descents in the Dolomites – the Val Mezdi (Mid-day Valley).  But do take a guide and be prepared to turn back if the steep start of the run puts you off!  It quickly levels out, and by the time you have reached Colfosco, you’ll have descended well over 1200 vertical metres (almost 4,000 feet) – and skied one of Italy’s classic runs.
