Hotel Mignon is an impressive hotel thanks to the Designori family's attentive service. They've been running the place for more than 45 years so make sure you ask for their tips on the best ski runs or things to do. The hotel has a traditional feel and plenty of facilities to occupy your week. We love the state-of-the-art spa - the massage jets in the indoor pool are perfect after a day skiing.

The dining room serves up traditional food and they use local produce so everything tastes fresh. You'll get a more refined dinner experience here with great service. Pair your meal with a nice bottle from their cellar for a perfect evening. When it's time to hit the pillow retreat to your comfortable classic or Alpine style bedroom. If you are bringing the family, the larger superior rooms are great for sharing with the kids.

Getting onto the slopes couldn't be easier - the Ciampinoi gondola is only a five-minute walk away and there's a free shuttle that'll take you there in the mornings. The centre of Selva is within walking distance too and the hotel's location on the edge of town means you get fantastic views of the valley.

Transfer time: approx. 3 hours by coach from Innsbruck airport.

Selva

Set in the Südtirol’s charming Gardena valley, Selva is a gateway to the famous Sellaronda skiing circuit, where you can ski around the gigantic limestone monoliths of the Gruppo Sella. This delightful and not particularly challenging 25 mile tour can be achieved fairly easily in a day. Selva, part of Dolomiti Superski, the largest lift system in Europe, combines the best of Italian and South Tyrolean traditions for a unique ski holiday experience. It offers unbeatable quantity and variety of skiing right on its doorstep, a paradise for dedicated skiers of all levels.

The picturesque old town of Ortisei, the main community and cultural centre of Val Gardena, with its own small ski area, is both chic and traditional, with a picturesque town centre. Ortisei links easily with Selva’s pistes whilst its local Alpe di Siusi ski area is also well-known for its cross-country trails and a thrilling six kilometre toboggan run. Val Gardena is the venue for one of the early World Cup meetings each season. The Saslong downhill run to Santa Cristina - with its famous "camel bumps" - is where the men's downhill event on Mount Ciampinoi takes place.

Meals

Food is really something to look forward to when you stay here. The breakfast buffet has plenty of choice and some nice, healthy options to get your energy up for a day on the mountains. Help yourself to homemade mountain honey, local yogurt and regional, organic product including eggs and milk - save some room for the homemade pastries, too!

You'll get a choice every evening for dinner when you'll tuck into four courses. There's a mix of international and South Tyrolean dishes as well as a salad and antipasti buffet. Once a week there's a gala dinner with local specialties. The Mignon is perfect if you want a more refined dinner experience in a spacious dining room.

After dinner, head to the bar for a nightcap. Relax in front of the fire and enjoy the mountain views.
