The best part about this hotel is the tranquil gardens, where you'll find a heated adventure swimming pool, whirlpool, and pond with fountains. The landscaped gardens span nine levels, and an 830-meter trail winds its way through them to the mountains. Inside, there's a large spa featuring an indoor pool, saunas, and a steam room—it's a must-do to relax tired legs after a day of walking.

Younger guests are exceptionally well catered to here, with a play area and a teenager’s room that includes table tennis, a pool table, table football, and air hockey. Outside, there's a children's pool, trampoline, and sports court.

If you're into modern and traditional art, you'll love the galleries and exhibitions in Salzburg. Head to the Museum der Moderne on the Mönchsberg which displays international pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries. Or, to delve deeper into the backstory of the city - the galleries at the Salzburg Fortress, museums and attractions will give you fantastic insights into this fascinating hub of history, music and culture.

You’ll be spoilt for choice in Salzburg city. Take a leisurely walk through the DomQuartier Salzburg, a historical tour of the grand state rooms. Or learn all about Salzburg's most famous brew at the Stiegl-Brauwelt - it's Austria's largest private brewery and is an interesting interactive world of beer. Family friendly museums like the Museum of Natural History and Technology or the toy museum are great for keeping the little ones entertained too. If it's a sunny day, the Salzburg Open Air Museum is perfect - it's just outside the city and is like stepping back in time as you visit old farmhouses, mills and barns, and see demonstrations of historic craft-making.

Salzburg is famous as the birthplace of Mozart and the bright yellow “Hagenauer Haus” is one of the most popular museums in Austria, hosting a collection of unique exhibition pieces, display boards and Mozart's own violin.

Take in the panoramic views of Salzburg city from the Hohensalzburg Fortress, which was built on the Festungsberg since 1077. You are certain to get your steps in as you stroll through Salzburg’s Old Town – home to beautiful historical architecture and many churches and flower-filled cemeteries. The most important sacred building in the city is the impressive Salzburg Cathedral, proudly standing with its huge dome and two distinctive turquoise topped towers.

If you've seen “The Sound of Music” - filmed with Julie Andrews over 50 years ago - you may recognise several scenes around Salzburg. Visit the Mirabell Palace and gardens with picturesque large, planted gardens, spectacular water fountains and grand statues, or take a trip on the hop-on-hop-off Sound of Music bus to take in all the sights.

Soak up the sun with outdoor rooftop terraces - ideal for a midday refresh, the IMLAUER Sky Bar is perfect. For foodies, you should definitely try Bosna, Salzburg's most popular local street food, great to have while exploring the Old Town. Or, tuck into a slice of traditional Sachertorte cake at the Hotel Sacher.

For shopping, you can't beat the boutiques of the Old Town - centred around the famous Getreidegasse, the Old Town is characterised by its pretty iron shop signs that hang outside. Each summer, the fairy tale streets of Salzburg are alive with the sounds of Mozart at the Salzburg Festival. Featuring opera, concerts and drama, the festival enjoys worldwide recognition as one of the most outstanding classical music events today. The festival takes place in various venues throughout the city, but the main attractions are located around Cathedral Square.

Vienna has some of the greatest architecture in Austria, such as the palaces of Schönbrunn, Hofburg and Belvedere. You can take insightful tours within these phenomenal buildings to see the beautiful ceiling paintings, giant chandeliers, traditional furnishings and learn about their history. Or, visit St. Stephens Cathedral, the tallest church in Austria, and the symbol of Vienna.

In 2015, the Ringstrasse celebrated its 150th anniversary and the circular boulevard is perfect for an afternoon stroll. At nearly five-and-a-half kilometres long, you'll pass famous monuments, statues and buildings that were built between 1860 and 1890.

View the city’s skyline from above as you take in the breathtaking views from the spacious and timeless pods on the Viennese giant Ferris wheel. The short 20-minute ride will whisk you to a new viewpoint of Austria's capital city, allowing you to spot its many famous landmarks like St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The overall experience lasts around two hours, ideal for a quick morning activity.

With over 100 museums, Vienna is a paradise for any keen history, geography, or art enthusiast. Vienna is home to an array of Jewish museums, such as the Sigmund Frued or Viktor Frankl Museums. One of the newest museums is the Albertina modern, a contemporary artistic hotspot.

Vienna is Austria’s capital of the music and arts. Visit the homes of composers ‘Waltz King’ Johann Strauss, F. Schubert and J. Haydn or enjoy their music at various concerts at the Musikverein, the Hofburg or the State Opera. The Museum of Fine Arts also displays the works of Dürer, Rembrandt and Rubens.

When visiting the Stadpark, you must go to the Strauss monument, a golden statue of Johann Strauss. You'll have wealth of photo opportunities – not forgetting the giant flowerbed clock that lies within the gardens. Close to the Hofburg Palace is the Volksgarten park, renowned for its lovely rose garden.

It looks like a coffee and cake are on the cards. Stop off at multiple cafés for a mini break during your day of exploring the city. There are plenty of beautiful coffee houses with spectacular interiors, or local Viennese experiences on offer in admired places like the Café Central.

The 1st district areas of Kärntnerstrasse and Graben contain the most exclusive shops and coffee houses. Keep a look out for ‘Augarten’ porcelain, petit-point needlework and, of course, the famous Sachertorte chocolate cake. The equivalent of Oxford Street is the Mariahilferstrasse.

Vienna’s ‘highlights’ tour includes the famous ‘Ringstrasse’, the State Opera House, Fine Arts and Natural History Museums, Parliament, Prater, Belvedere Palace, and Schönbrunn Palace (interior visit included).
