Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

Hotel Europa sits in the heart of Riva's historic centre with unrivaled views of the harbour. The decor of the hotel is simple yet stylish. Hues of gold, tan and cream are used throughout the spacious bedrooms creating a peaceful and relaxing aesthetic. The Bistro a la carte restaurant has stunning panoramic views of the harbour with floor-to-ceiling windows. The chefs at Europa pride themselves on their use of local ingredients including infused olive oils, fish platters and antipasti bought from the market that very morning.

The rooftop of the Europa is a haven of relaxation with a small, heated pool and sun terrace. Sun loungers and parasols are at your disposal and this makes the perfect spot to spend a sunny afternoon taking in the sunshine over the lake with the mountains beyond.

Riva itself is a spectacular town with a lot to offer and being at the northernmost point of the lake is home to a variety of water sports. The mountainous terrain brings with it a refreshing but sometimes powerful alpine wind creating the perfect conditions for the likes of kite surfing, sailing and paddle boarding with the latter being an excellent 'outside-the-box' means of taking in the scenery. There are also some wonderful walking trails available for all abilities as the town itself is on the flat whilst the likes of Monte Brione make for an incredibly rewarding challenge for avid ramblers.

Exploring other resorts on the lake is easy with the ferry port of Riva just a few steps away from the hotel. From here you can purchase tickets to travel all over; whether you want to spend the day taste testing every gelato shop in Limone, climbing the castle steps in Malcesine or taking in the incredible turquoise waters of Peschiera.

Riva

Make sure you pack your sense of adventure for a holiday in Riva del Garda. This is Lake Garda’s most northern town and there’s mountains all around. Some of the best hiking and cycling trails start from here – Strada del Ponale is our favourite and you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the town and lake. For a more unique viewpoint, try some mountain climbing. Riva’s probably best known for its water sports and it’s not uncommon to see windsurfing competitions taking place throughout the summer. You can try it yourself while you’re there as well as sailing and scuba diving.

When you need to slow things down a bit you can stroll along the lake promenade or take a seat in the historic piazza. It’s pedestrianised and has a slight Austrian feel – you’ll find apple strudel and schnitzel on the menu in some cafés. The old town is lovely to walk around – think cobbled streets and flower-filled terraces. There’s lots of bars, shops and restaurants so it has an energetic atmosphere during the summer. We love the beaches here too. The large white pebbles spill into the clear lake and it’s almost impossible to resist a dip.
