Interlaken is set between the sparkling waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and enjoys a magnificent setting on the banks of the River Aare with the snow-capped peaks of the Jungfrau, Mönch, and Eiger forming the perfect backdrop. The main promenade, the ‘Höheweg’, is lined with flowers and fronted by a huge open meadow from where you can enjoy one of the most famous views in the world. The FREE use of local buses, included for all guests, allows quick and easy travel to surrounding villages including Bönigen and Iseltwald (see below). Excursions are plentiful, with lake steamers calling in regularly to take you to other villages along the shores.
There are not many holidays where you can experience beach weather and an Antarctic climate in one trip. To do this take the Jungfrau Railway to 3,454 metres above sea level and visit JungfrauJoch ‘Top of Europe’. Here you will find a snow fun park, ice palace, museum, lindt chocolate heaven and much more. Plus visit Harder Kulm and its stunning viewing platform which is accessible by furnicular. Our hotels in Interlaken offer you a great choice of accommodation. There are many attractive shops, boutiques, and cafés such as Café Schuh - a great place to enjoy some delicious afternoon cake or Swiss chocolate!
