La Folie Douce Hotel

  • France, Chamonix

One of the biggest names in après ski has decided to push the boundaries and open a hotel!

Reinventing the Savoy Palace from the inside out, the Folie Douce Hotel will bring it's eclectic mix of hospitality and entertainment to a permanent position in Chamonix.

Hitting the slopes couldn't be easier, the Savoy lift is less than a minutes walk away (giving access to the Brévant and Flégère ski area) and the ski-in/ski-out access means reaching both slopes and resort centre are just moments away.

What about the world famous après we hear you say? No less than the best with après daily from 5-8pm at the After Mountain Party Bar. DJs, dancers, singers and musicians are all on the menu and we are sure this Folie flagship will not disappoint!

If you need a break from the party, take advantage of the large spa with sauna and steam room plus the outdoor pool with fabulous views across to Mont Blanc- Yoga classes are also available for the ultimate mind and body detox.

Bar Janssen offers a laid back vibe with an extensive cocktail menu, there's also a children's club (pay locally 4-12yrs) which includes everything from ski tuition, movie nights and mountain excursions.

Primarily offered on a bed & breakfast basis, there's opportunity to explore Chamonix by night and enjoy the fabulous range of restaurants on offer. Alternatively, half-board meals are available to pre-book and can be taken in the Le Petite Cuisine, offering a mixed menu of Savoyard and Italian food. There are 2 additional restaurants on site, La Fruitiere is a traditional french gourmet restaurant or Le Kiosque which offers quick and delicious street food (both pay locally).

Chamonix

With much of the terrain above 2000m, the skiing in Chamonix valley has for many years attracted skiers looking for good snow and who also want to ski the famous Vallée Blanche - or tackle the rest of the extensive off-piste skiing. But there is a lot more to skiing Chamonix than just challenging slopes, and skiers and snowboarders of all levels should find runs to the suit them. And you certainly don’t need to be an expert to enjoy the truly spectacular scenery. There’s an efficient ski bus which links the five main ski areas. At the foot of the majestic Mont Blanc massif, the resort’s setting is both unique and breathtaking. The town of Chamonix offers an excellent range of sporting and leisure facilities, and the nightlife, complete with an excellent choice of restaurants, is unrivalled, The choice of skiing is remarkable, with testing slopes for ambitious skiers at Argentière, cruisy blues and fun reds at Brévent-Flégère and Le Tour and skiing for beginners in Chamonix and at the pretty nearby village of Les Houches.

Note for winter 2018/19

There has been some damage in the summer to the mid station of the Grands Montets and Lognan gondolas and they may not be open in the winter. There will still be access to the Grands Montets area via the Plan Jordan gondola to the main bowl and the only area that may be unaccessable is the Bouchard and Herse chairlift. The Grands Montets has huge off piste and our ski school have said that it is business as usual with instructors guiding on different parts of the mountain.

The local lift pass does not cover the top lifts of the Grands Montets and this pass is most suitable for beginners. The otherski areas will be fully open

  • Brevent & Flegere: 16 pistes
  • Le Tour: 19 pistes
  • Les Houches: 27 pistes

And Grands Montets will have 12 out of 15 pistes.
