Hotel Oswald

One of Selva's most iconic hotels with its central tower, The Oswald is rich with history and previously known as the best hotel in the Alps. A grand, Alpine hotel, the Oswald's elegant public areas are supported by well-appointed rooms in traditional, mountain style. The standout focus for us however was the gourmet restaurant serving food from around the world as well as sourcing local produce to create a menu of sophisticated seasonal dishes. The amount of detail going into the presentation of the food certainly creates a wow factor, especially on the weekly Tyrolean themed evening.

Situated close to the centre of Selva, the Ciampinoi gondola is just 350 meters away and the hotel runs a shuttle to the lifts in the mornings. After a day skiing, returning to the hotel is not a bad option at all. You can either choose to relax in the comfort of your room and take a hot bath before sitting out on the balcony to do a spot of people watching, or you may prefer to explore the spa facilities the hotel has to offer. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are all free of charge but you can treat yourself to a massage or perhaps a beauty treatment, after all, the hotel gives ever guest a spa credit of €30 per person on all dates except those arriving on 26th Dec 20.

The friendly and professional team at the hotel run a tight ship with little extras thrown in here and there to ensure a great stay. You can look forward to a welcome drink on a Sunday, free daily tea and cake from 3-5pm and did we mention the spa voucher?

Transfer time: approx. 3 hours by coach from Innsbruck airport.

Set in the Südtirol’s charming Gardena valley, Selva is a gateway to the famous Sellaronda skiing circuit, where you can ski around the gigantic limestone monoliths of the Gruppo Sella. This delightful and not particularly challenging 25 mile tour can be achieved fairly easily in a day. Selva, part of Dolomiti Superski, the largest lift system in Europe, combines the best of Italian and South Tyrolean traditions for a unique ski holiday experience. It offers unbeatable quantity and variety of skiing right on its doorstep, a paradise for dedicated skiers of all levels. The picturesque old town of Ortisei, the principal community and cultural centre of Val Gardena, with its own small ski area, is both chic and traditional, with a picturesque town centre. Ortisei links easily with Selva’s pistes whilst its local Alpe di Siusi ski area is also well-known for its cross-country trails and a thrilling six kilometre toboggan run. Val Gardena is the venue for one of the early World Cup meetings each season. The Saslong downhill run to Santa Cristina - with its famous "camel bumps" - is the scene of the men's downhill on Mount Ciampinoi.

There is also a weekly Tyrolean dinner and plenty of good wine in the cellar to choice from.

Complimentary tea and cake is served every day between 3-5pm.

To add a touch of sophistication to your holiday, why not head to the weekly piano bar to enjoy an after dinner dram and sit back and listen to the harmonic sounds in a lovely setting.
