About Hotel Villa Stefania

The motto of Hotel Villa Stefania is simply ‘Everything can be done, but nothing has to be’, and that’s exactly what you can expect here: the freedom to enjoy your holiday in the Dolomites, however you choose. This is your chance to embrace a slower pace, whether that's settling down with a good book in the well-tended garden (which overlooks the mountains) or heading out on one of the weekly walking excursions hosted by the hotel's owner – your options are endless.

With its high standards of comfort, service and cuisine, you'll be well looked after from the moment you arrive at this family-run hotel. From the overhead windows streaming sunshine into the indoor pool to the three different types of sauna, it’s hard not to feel rejuvenated and relaxed after time on the trails. Then you can round off your day with award-winning cuisine, served across four courses and accompanied by your favourite tipple, before heading back to your room feeling well fed and thoroughly looked after.

A highlight of this hotel is its excellent central location. The Monte Baranci chairlift in San Candido is just 800 metres away, whisking you up to sweeping views before you descend in style on the mountain’s ‘FunBob’ toboggan. Want to explore a little further? Hop on the public bus to Versciaco – from here you can access the Monte Elmo walking area. There's no schlep back, either, as the bus stops just 60 metres from the hotel. This makes getting around wonderfully easy (especially with your Sud Tirol Guest Pass, which gives you free travel!).

Discover Drei Zinnen

  • Admire the three distinctive peaks of Cima Grande, Cima Ovest and Cima Piccola
  • Take on the Tre Cime circular – and be rewarded with one-of-a-kind views
  • Enjoy sweeping 360° views from Mount Elmo for well-known Dolomite panoramas

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, known in German as Drei Zinnen, is one of the most iconic mountain ranges in the Italian Alps. You've seen the photographs, but nothing will ever capture the magic of the Dolomites like seeing it for yourself. Here, the pale limestone peaks won’t just sit in the background as you walk the trails beneath – they'll become memorable on any walk you'll go on as you see them from different angles. And as if this isn't enough, the region is also home to the turquoise waters of Lago di Braies, one of the most beautiful Alpine lakes in the Dolomites. Together, they create a landscape that makes this corner of the Alps so unforgettable: unique landscapes and the sheer space to embrace the great outdoors.

Things to do in Drei Zinnen

View Of Lago Di Braies Dolomites Italy

Often called the 'Pearl of the Dolomites', this alpine beauty is famous for its emerald waters and traditional wooden rowing boats which you can easily rent. Glide across the clear waters of Lago di Braies and let the tranquillity do its magic – it's a dreamy way to soak up the scenery (and nab some postcard-worthy photos).

Cable car Tre Cime (Drei Zinnen) with scenic view of ridge summit Dreischusterspitze in majestic mountain range of untamed Sexten Dolomites, South Tyrol, Italy, Europe. Hiking concept Italian Alps

Float up into the mountains aboard the cable car to Monte Elmo. At the summit, sweeping 360° views stretch across the Sesto Dolomites and all the way into Austria. From here, you're perfectly placed for panoramic hiking trails leading to mountain huts, scenic viewpoints and family-friendly adventure parks like Olperl’s Nature Park.

Drei Zinnen Scenic Trail Dolomites Italy

Turn your mountain visit into a full family adventure at the Giant Helm playground on Monte Elmo. Located at the summit station, this imaginative play area has all things to keep little ones occupied – climbing frames, slides and interactive nature games inspired by local legends. Surrounded by sweeping views of the Dolomites, it’s the perfect place for the children to play whilst you sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.

Drei Zinnen Tres Cimes Three Peaks Dolomites Italy

Adventure meets history on Monte Paterno. Carefully carved tunnels and military paths built during World War I still wind through the rock, giving a fascinating glimpse into the region’s past. There's also a great photo spot here, where the mountain tunnel frames the peaks of Tre Cime di Lavaredo – it's like looking out of nature's very own window.

Swap hiking boots for two wheels and cycle along the picturesque route from Dobbiaco to Lienz. This mostly downhill trail follows an old railway line through alpine valleys, forests and traditional mountain villages. Whatever your cycling level, this is one of the most enjoyable and accessible cycling experiences in the Dolomites.

Drei Zinnen Monte Baranci View Of Funbob Dolomites Italy

Add a burst of excitement to your mountain day with the alpine coaster at Monte Baranci above San Candido – home to South Tyrol's longest summer toboggan run. Your adventure begins with a scenic chairlift ride from San Candido, giving a great bird’s-eye view of the twisting track before the fun begins. This 'FunBob' sends you from 1,500 metres along twists and turns down the mountainside – but don't worry, you're in control of the pace!

Drei Zinnen Mountain Hut Tre Cime Di Lavaredo National Park Dolomites Italy

After a morning of hiking or cycling, pause on a sunny terrace with your family or friends and savour hearty South Tyrolean specialities – from steaming bowls of barley soup to freshly baked strudel – while the mountains stretch endlessly around you. Even if it's just for a quick stop, these rifugi (mountain huts) are the ultimate way to authentically experience the Dolomites. Bliss.
