Discover Filzmoos

Filzmoos is a truly idyllic mountain village where little has changed over the years. It has an excellent snow record, superb panoramic views and downhill runs straight into the village.

Nestling in between the Bischofsmütze and Dachstein mountains, the resort has much to offer both the skier and the non skier. Wherever you ski, the slopes are usually uncrowded and lift queues non-existent.

With wide, quiet slopes, Filzmoos is ideal for families. There’s some lovely glade skiing off piste, and cross-country enthusiasts can enjoy the 14km high-altitude Rossbrand trail.

Filzmoos offers everything from cosy mountain huts to charming village restaurants. On the slopes and down in the village you can find cosy restaurants serving Austrian classics such as Wiener Schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn and homemade apple strudel.

Skiers hitting the slopes can refuel at Kleinbergalm, perched at the top of the Großbergbahn, with log cabin charm and panoramic decking. Nearby Schwaigalm is another favourite, sourcing regional hearty dishes from organic farms.

At valley level, Holzwurmhütte delivers rustic, farm‑to‑fork cooking with daily soups and beef from its own cattle.

For fine dining in the village, the Hubertus Hotel offers Michelin level refinement by chef Johanna Maier - reservations essential.

The après ski scene in Filzmoos is more laid back compared to some of Austria’s larger resorts. Whether you’re sipping Glühwein by a crackling fire or clinking glasses to live music, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming,

Kenn’ i di is the go-to for casual drink with a bit of dancing, and when the night calls for a little more energy, Kalahari Bar often has DJs, live music, and a great atmosphere. If you are looking for something a bit more laid back the Alm Stadl is the spot for you.

Dotted throughout the charming village you can find a range of supermarkets, bakeries and equipment rental shops alongside speciality shops offering local souvenirs. Throughout the winter the local markets offer handmade crafts, local treats, and regional products like jams and cheeses.
