Beginners skiing and snowboarding in Mont Tremblant
Mont Tremblant is an almost perfect ski resort for beginner skiers and snowboarders. The brilliant Tremblant ski school provides an excellent standard of tuition and can help you improve your technique no matter your ability.
The ski school meeting point is right next to the Express Gondola. This will transport you directly to the top of the south side of the mountain, the Versant Sud, where the majority of the beginner slopes are found.
We recommend the long, gentle Nansen run which takes you from the summit of Mont Tremblant through enchanted forests back into the village. A perfect opportunity to pause for lunch!
Intermediates skiing and snowboarding in Mont Tremblant
There are plenty of runs to occupy the intermediate skier and snowboarder in Mont Tremblant, no matter what side of the mountain you find yourself on. Mont Tremblant has possibly the best groomed pistes on the East coast of North America.
The resort is almost exclusively made up of well-groomed and picturesque, tree-lined runs. It’s perfect for cruising all day and the efficient Express Gondola will help you to extensively explore the mountain.
Improvers can also make use of the excellent Tremblant ski school to hone their ski technique. Intermediate skiers should head to the Beauchemin a scenic trail which swoops down the North side of the mountain and the equally beautiful Beauvallon on the south side.
Advanced skiing and snowboarding in Mont Tremblant
You may not find the steep pistes that you do in the Alps or on the West coast of North America but with 46% of the skiable terrain marked as black diamond or double black diamond there is a great variety of runs to challenge the advanced and expert skier and snowboarder in Mont Tremblant. Advanced runs in Mont Tremblant are typified by excellent mogul trails and challenging tree glades.
One of the steepest runs in resort is the ominously titled Dynamite on the north side of the mountain, best accessed via the Expo Express lift. The also excellently named Edge face of the mountain offers skiers some of the best glade skiing in the resort.
Freeriders will be delighted at the excellent snow record in Mont Tremblant which means deep powder across the mountain and when exploring the backcountry. To get the whole of Mont Tremblant to yourself make the most of the first tracks at 7.45am, before the lifts properly open at 8.30am.
Freestyle and terrain parks in Mont Tremblant
Mont Tremblant has three excellent snowparks each geared towards different levels - ideal for freestyle enthusiasts and beginners alike. On the south side of the mountain are the Progression and Adrénaline parks. Progression is great for improvers looking to perfect their technique, while Adrénaline has a variety of modules designed for experts. On the north face of the mountain the Évolution snowpark provides a range of terrain, including the excellent Rope Tow trail, for beginners to learn the basics.
Cross-country skiing in Mont Tremblant
There are 120km of trails open to cross-country skiers visiting Tremblant, with over half of which are suitable for skate style cross-country skiing. The trails can be explored both independently or with an experienced local guide.
Cross-country skiing is a fantastic way to explore the incredible natural beauty of the resort. Equipment hire and guiding can all be arranged in resort at the Mont Tremblant Activity Centre.

Discover Mont Tremblant
Mont Tremblant, with its cobbled streets and quaint houses, is the most colourful and atmospheric ski town in the Quebec province. Consistently voted the ‘Best Resort in Eastern North America’ by the Ski Magazine, this slope-side pedestrian village is perfectly constructed with skiers in mind. The resort inherited its name from the local First Nation tribe, the Algonquins, who called it the ‘trembling mountain’. The village of Tremblant first became a ski resort in 1939 when American, Joseph Bondurant Ryan constructed its first chair lift.
Located at 875 metres, Mont Tremblant is one of the highest peaks in the Laurentians National Park and provides four mountain faces of extensive skiing: Versant Sud, Versant Soleil, Versant Nord and the Edge. It’s possibly the best skiing you can do in Eastern Canada with an excellent variety of groomed runs.
Skiing in Mont Tremblant attracts visitors of all ages and experience from all over the world, and for good reason. The ski area offers a range of slopes, all varying in difficulty and landscape, as well as a great ski school and some delightful pit-stops for a hot chocolate or two. The ski area covers over 753 acres and includes 102 ski trails for you to explore, so there'll be plenty of piste to keep you entertained.
Snowboarding in Mont Tremblant has become one of the most popular sports in the world next to skiing. Mont Tremblant is one of the largest boarding areas in Canada, giving boarders access to 30 acres of landscape across 3 snowparks. These parks overlook the panoramic views of the lake and country side, so whilst you're hitting a jump or ramp, you have some incredible views to keep you company.
The added benefit of a ski holiday to Mont Tremblant is the excellent food and drink offered in resort. Whatever you feel like eating, you'll be able to find a restaurant or café that meets all your needs - pick between French, Italian, Asian and many more cuisines. The French-speaking culture of Quebec perfectly blends Canadian and French cuisine to create some of the tastiest food in North America.
After a day on the slopes, there'll be plenty of opportunities to have a drink in the evening. Socialise over a cold beer or relax with a cocktail in one of the many cocktail bars. The lively nightlife adds to this resorts charm and makes it an all round favourite.
Mont Tremblant has a loud and lively aprés scene, one of the most enjoyable in North America. There are plenty of places to visit for live music and DJ sets and the clubs stay open until late.
The Café d’Epoque is one of the liveliest nightclubs in town – in their own words ‘the wildest bar on the mountain’ – it has an eclectic calendar of themed nights.
Around the corner is P’tit Caribou, consistently voted the best après-ski bar in Eastern North America. Not only do they have regular DJ sets, their cocktail menu is stunning. We recommend the signature Coupe Caribou.
Those of you who prefer a more genteel après experience should head to La Diable micro-brewery for a chilled out afternoon sampling the many, delicious craft beers that are brewed locally. La Diable also has an excellent food menu, and is well worth a visit for dinner one evening.
The main shopping area in Mont Tremblant is the Place Saint-Bernard, in the heart of the pedestrian village, right next to the ski lifts. There are several sports equipment shops to choose from for hiring or buying ski and snowboarding gear from.
We recommend the Adventure Centre located in the Sommet des Neiges, directly opposite the Express Gondola. There are also plenty of options for fascinating souvenirs.
For an interesting gift to take back to friends and family try Le Studio Créatif, a pottery store where you can decorate your own mugs, plates and bowls, amongst other items. The town of St Jovite, which is only 20 minutes away by bus, also has a splendid variety of shops and restaurants.
Guests staying in Mont Tremblant on self-catering basis are well served Magasin General on Kandahar Street. The general store is open from 7am to 11pm.
Alcoholic beverages can be purchased from the local liquor store on Place Saint-Bernard. Larger supermarkets can be found in the nearby-town of St Jovite.
There’s nothing like relaxing in the spa after a hectic day skiing on the mountain. Guests at the Hotel Fairmont Tremblant are well served with extensive wellness facilities, including amazing outdoor pools. Guests of the hotel can also purchase spa treatments locally.
Just five minutes’ drive from Tremblant is the excellent Scandinavia Spa which provides traditional Scandinavian baths and massages in the incredible natural setting of the Laurentian Mountains.
Aquaclub La Source is a family friendly pool and fitness centre in the centre of the pedestrian village. The indoor pool is colourful and lively – perfect for children, while the gym is great for maintaining your fitness off the pistes.
For a ski destination with a difference you should totally head to Mont Tremblant. It is a favourite destination for Hollywood celebrities Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones who have skied here many times in the past.
The resort is bursting with unique Quebecois history and charm. The historic, old village of Tremblant, on the shore of Lake Mercier, is easily accessed by public transport from the ski resort. The old railway station here was rebuilt as a public art gallery – the Place de la Gare.
Mont Tremblant’s calendar is jam-packed with sporting events. In late January the fun filled Festival Rando Alpine Tremblant celebrates the pursuit of winter sports with a host of exciting activities including fat-bike touring of the North side of the mountain, and even an opportunity to watch the sunrise from the summit of Mont Tremblant!
Freestylers will want to register to compete in the LTD Ski and Snowboard Rail Jam – prizes for the most crowd pleasing tricks include sports-wear from some of the top ski and snowboarding brands.
At the end of the season Tremblant hosts the Snow Polo Tremblant tournament. This is a fascinating spectacle as international teams go head to head over the course of this two-day event.
Also worth watching is the mad-cap Caribou Cup, in which crazy, costumed skiers and snowboarders race down the mountain before attempting to cross a 75-foot swimming pool – still on their skis and snowboards.
