Once the home of an 18th century nobleman, the Grand Hotel Bristol lives up to its name and boasts opulence and luxury on the shores of Lake Maggiore. The building itself is imposing, its Art Deco crown visible for miles around and cementing its place as one of Stresa's most popular and renowned properties. Located on the main waterfront boulevard where the stunning Isola Bella seems just a stones' throw, the ferry port is just a 10 minute walk down away making it simple to get out and about to other resorts and surrounding islands.

The interior is as grand as the facade with domed, stained glass ceilings in the communal areas, Persian rugs and vintage furniture darted throughout the oak and marble hallways. Rooms are spacious and classically designed with hues of gold and cream creating a bright and airy space complimented glass chandeliers and original canvas paintings some of which date back to the 18th century. The bathrooms have delightful mosaic tiles which have been hand placed and luxury, complimentary toiletries.  Outside and surrounded by verdant and flourishing gardens of lavendar, rosemary and jasmine, there is also a large pool which offers panoramic views of Lake Maggiore's indigo waters and the exquisite mountains beyond. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols for you to make the most of the Stresa sunshine after a day of exploring the town and its neighbouring resorts. As well as the picturesque swimming pool, there is a sauna, gym and further swimming pool located inside which is free for you to access.

The onsite restaurant which is home to the breakfast and dinner service for those staying half board is known as 'Tre Isole' and offers not just excellent cuisine but also a magical view over the Borromean Islands. An American style breakfast is served each morning from 7.15am until 10.00 with room service available until 11.00am. This buffet service has both hot and cold options along with fresh juices, teas and coffees. Dinner service is four courses of both international and Italian cuisine all cooked to a superb standard. Both the grand dining room with its Toso chandeliers and the exquisite winter garden with stained glass ceiling are available for dining in offering a slice of grandeur from years gone by.

Stresa

Stylish Stresa is Lake Maggiore's leading resort. Take your summer holidays in Stresa this year and experience this unforgettably beautiful Italian lake resort. The idyllic Borromean Islands are only a short boat ride away and Monte Mottarone, with its superb views, is easy to reach by cable car.

The lush gardens of Villa Pallavicino and Villa Taranto are well worth a visit. Summer holidays in Stresa take you to a flower filled, fragrant place with a long, landscaped lake front promenade. This links by cable-car and lake ferry to all the resort's main hotels. Imagine crystal clear waters, sparkling blue skies and idyllic lake islands and that's a summer holiday in Stresa... in a nutshell!

The old town centre has been partly pedestrianised and comes to life in the evenings as the bars and restaurants spill into the squares. Holidaymakers love summer holidays in Stresa for the smart shops that line the narrow, cobbled streets. And the music! From the end of July to September, Stresa's celebrated International Music Festival offers 25 fantastic classical music concerts.
