Ski in/ ski out access

Located in the centre of Alpe d'Huez, the Grandes Rousses Hotel & Spa has ski in/ ski out access. Perfect for those who are keen to get out on the mountain first thing and return when the lifts close for the day. The hotel has an incredible location in the resort, with breath-taking views of the mountain peeks surrounding Alpe d'Huez.

A cosy mountain retreat

The hotel design has been influenced by an alpine chalet, easy to live in, intergenerational, cosy and warm. The spacious and bright rooms offer an enchanting atmosphere, many of the rooms have exceptional views of the alpine peaks and a range of high quality facilities. 

The hotel has three restaurants. Half board meals are taken in the L'Espérance restaurant, where the menu embodies generous, friendly, sharing cuisine - choose to dine in the modern panoramic restaurant or in the unique private dining pods, be sure to reserve your pod at reception. The Les Mas'Hauts are small chalets made of wood and glass, allowing you to enjoy an authentic and warm experience as you discover cheese specialties of the region. If you are looking for a spot for lunch or want to dine à la carte, La Ferme d'Hubert is a great choice - the seasonal menu draws inspiration from nature, utilising local products from the region to create a delicious dish to be enjoyed on the sunny terrace or in the modern brassiere style restaurant. At the end of the day, you can also enjoy sampling wine and platters of charcuterie and cheese sourced from neighbouring farms at Aux Grands Rouges Lounge Bar.

Unwind and relax

Residents have complimentary access to the rooftop d'Hubert wellness area which has an outdoor heated pool, Nordic bath and heated sauna, perfect for giving yourself a break after a day exploring Alpe d'Huez.

The Spa des Alpes is the perfect place to pamper yourself, reserve your 45-minute spot for a local fee, and enjoy the sensory pool, sensory showers, ice fountain, sauna, and hammam. The spa is adults open daily, so you can fully relax without any interruptions. You can also discover our state-of-the-art cryotherapy equipment and solid copper baths during a treatment.

Alpe d'Huez is a lively ski resort and its position will make any skier or snowboarder happy. It has the double benefit of lying on high sunny plateau and being surrounded by an amazing snow bowl, with miles of varied and enjoyable runs and off piste opportunities. 

Skiing and snowboarding in Alpe d'Huez

This resort has everything to please no matter what your skiing ability is from wide open blues and greens to challenging black runs. There's 249km of skiing, giving you endless opportunities to explore and visit the different villages without feeling that you are doing the same run more than once. The altitude of the resort means that there is an excellent snow record, with the Sarenne Glacier and over 900 snow cannons, even late season skiing will have great conditions.

The Pic Blanc summit at 3,330m affords breath-taking views across the whole of the Southern Alps and provides a wonderful starting point for the Sarenne descent - one of the longest black runs in the world at fully 16km from top to bottom! Alpe d'Huez is ideal for snowboarders, providing two well maintained snow parks and plenty of boarder friendly cable cars and chair lifts.

Bars and restaurants in Alpe d'Huez

With its lively apres scene, Alpe d'Huez has plenty of bars both on and off the mountain to keep you entertained. Head to the legendary La Folie Douce for an afternoon of dancing on the tables, if you prefer something a bit more laid back Smithys Tavern often has live music and streams live sports events. 

On the food front, there is a wide variety of restaurants suitable for all tastes and budgets. Enjoy restaurants serving regional specialities, cosy pizzerias or fine dining establishments.

Rooms

Classic double rooms are 22m² and sleep two people. They have a king-size or twin beds and an East or North facing balcony with a view of the village or the mountains. These rooms are available for sole occupancy on request, please call to book.

Panoramic rooms are 24m² and sleep two people with a king-sized or twin beds, desk and armchair, and have a south facing balcony with panoramic views over the resort towards the mountains.

Prestige rooms are around 31m² and sleep two to three people with a double bed or twin beds, and additional bed for a child. These rooms have mountain or village views. 

Panoramic rooms, Deluxe rooms and Suites also have Bluetooth speakers as well as multiple charging and USB points.

Facilities

There are three south-facing outdoor terraces with wonderful views, one of which includes the outdoor heated swimming pool, cosmic sauna and whirlpool. This area, La Terrace de la Ferme d'Hubert, is open 10am - 7pm and children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Spa des Alpes Wellness Area has a sensory pool with a variety of themes, hammam, sauna, ice fountain, waterfall bucket, sensorial shower, copper bathtubs and six treatment rooms with numerous massage and beauty treatments available to book locally. There is a local fee to use the Spa des Alpes, it is approx. €25 per person for a 45 minute session.

Meals

This hotel is offered on a half board basis.

Continental buffet breakfast with additional hot options is served between 7.30-10.30am.

A three course evening meals with choice of menu and waiter service is served each day. The modern menus include classic dishes as well as mountain specialties and the cuisine is refined and generous with contemporary flavours. Savoyard specialties are available upon request with no supplement and you can upgrade for the À La Carte menu locally. Dinner service is usually between 7-9.30pm.

You can choose between a table in the restaurant or have dinner in the unique heated outdoor pods, be sure to reserve your pod reception.

Christmas and New Year gala dinners included on 24th and 31st December. Special dietary requirements such as gluten free, vegetarian and vegans can be catered for but please let us know in advance. Children's meals are available (on request).
