Located on the lakeshore in Tignes Le Lac, Chalet Cairn is a catered and comfortable chalet with great views of the mountains. The chalet is finished to a high standard and you also benefit from the wellness facilities included - there's a hot tub on the sun terrace and a cosmic sauna (a sauna with a viewing window) where you can enjoy the views.

Fantastic location

The location is simply stunning with views across the lake to Val Claret and the Grand Motte glacier - at night you can even see the illuminated mountain face known as 'The Fingers', named after the narrow couloirs and ridges running down it. Chalet Cairn also offers you easy access to the Tignes and Val d'Isere ski area. It's just three minutes' walk to the slopes and Tovière gondola or Palafour chairlift in Tignes le Lac, and the free ski shuttle bus stops right outside the chalet on its way to Val Claret. There'll also be plenty of opportunity for you to explore the resort and its bars or restaurants as the resort centre is a two minute walk from the chalet or the slopes, perfect for après ski!

Stylish and modern design

The owner takes great pride in the chalet and is constantly updating to keep it in a perfect condition our Inghams guests. All bedrooms in the property are decorated to a high quality and all feature en suite facilities; some also have a balcony. The living room and dining area are open plan, leading out to the sun terrace where you'll find the hot tub and sauna. You'll also find a heated ski and boot room as well as extra storage at the entrance of the chalet.

Chalet catering

Chalet Cairn is a catered ski chalet and you'll benefit from a chalet catering board basis. Your chalet hosts are there to make your ski holiday as relaxed as possible. All meals including breakfast, lunch and a three course dinner will be prepared for you, as well as afternoon tea and cake in case you fancy a pre-dinner snack. You can enjoy a glass of the unlimited wine with friends or family in front of the lounge fireplace, or take a dip in the hot tub after dinner.

Why is this an Inghams' Choice property?

Chalet hosts - Our chalet hosts are here to make your holiday easy and stress free. Chalet Cairn is a catered chalet so all meals will be prepped and ready for when you get back with table service included at breakfast and dinner - or if you'd just fancy a chat, the hosts are there to make you feel right at home.

Spa facilities - With access to a hot tub and cosmic sauna, you can really treat yourself to some relaxation time after a day on the slopes. Not only that, but both are located on the chalet's terrace and have amazing views of the surrounding mountains.

Excellent location - Located a short three minute walk from the centre of Tignes resort, Chalet Cairn is close to all the amenities you'll need throughout your stay, including the ski lifts and ski school meeting point.

Our chalets are going greener, so our mountains don't

Our menu is changing for the better. In all of our chalets we're giving you more choice, with both meat-free and meat options on offer throughout your stay. This is driven as part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.

Tignes is famous for it's record amounts of snowfall, making it the best place for skiers and snowboarders to carve up the slopes. The area has three main villages: Val Claret, Le Lac and Le Lavachet, which are linked together by a 24 hour free bus service. Val Claret is 2,100 metres high and has a superb position right at the foot of the Grande Motte funicular. Le Lac and Le Lavachet have a more cosy village feel to them and also offer easy access to the slopes and over to Val d’Isère. The villages have a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants and have a lively, friendly, buzz about them. We also have accommodation in Tignes 1850 and Tignes Les Brevieres, which are quieter villages with easy access to the slopes.

Sustainable skiing is a key priority for Tignes, with the aim to become a 100% eco-responsible resort by 2023 - Tignes have been awarded their second Flocon Vert (Green Snowflake) recognising their continuous improvements in a transition to more sustainable tourism.

Skiing and snowboarding in Tignes

There's a great mix of slopes in Tignes, making it a great place for families and groups of different levels. There's plenty of wide and long runs, through trees and on glaciers. One of the best runs has to be from the top of Grand Motte glacier and down the red into Tignes Val Claret village.

Where to stay in Tignes

We offer accommodation in all of the main villages in Tignes, with Le Lac and Val Claret being the most popular. From the majority of the hotels and apartments you can reach the slopes within a few minutes, making it extremely easy to get onto this world-renowned ski area.

Bars and restaurants in Tignes

Tignes is a lively area with plenty of restaurant and après options, from live bands and happy hours in 'Loop Bar' to delicious local Savoyade fondues in 'Coeur des Neiges'. Tignes Val Claret has the famous 'Cocorico' apres bar and pizzeria, then 'La Folie Douce' is up in the mountains. There's alot of restaurants dotted around the ski area for that well deserved mid-morning hot chocolate and then a lunch break.

Travel By Air

Flights to Chambery or Geneva from 13 UK airports

Transfer Times

  • Chambery airport: approx. 2 hours 15 mins by coach
  • Geneva airport: approx. 3 hours 15 mins by coach

For customers who are booking a Gatwick flight, we highly recommend that you choose the morning Chambery flight for Tignes due to the traffic light system in the Tarentaise Valley. This system controls and slows down the traffic, stopping traffic sitting in dangerous places, like tunnels, where rocks can fall and to make snow clearing easier when it is snowing. This can impact your transfer time, meaning you may arrive into resort later and leaving for the airport earlier.

Please note that transfers may be longer during peak holiday season or bad weather conditions.
