Ski holidays in Courmayeur

Sophisticated resort with wonderful skiing on the Italian side of Mont Blanc

Courmayeur’s cobbled streets are full of luxurious shops, stocked with the most upmarket and stylish clothes and accessories. Take a walk through the town and feast your eyes on some delicious local foods, don’t worry, your nose will lead the way. You will struggle to miss the 4810m high Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain which sits just beyond the town.

Despite its small ski area, Courmayeur remains a popular resort, due to its well-maintained pistes, varied terrain and spectacular scenery and views. The main attraction is the famous Monte Bianco Skyway. Imagine yourself ascending to 3,466m knowing that when you reach the top, you will be met by open powder fields and plenty off-piste to play in. This is like nowhere else we have experienced and unsurprisingly attracts top skiers and snowboarders from all around the world.

At the end of the day, there’s a great selection of bars to grab a drink, relax and chat about your day on the slopes. It’s definitely one for the bucket list.

In the centre of Courmayeur town and just 250 metres from the lifts is the beautiful Hotel Cresta et Duc. The stylish interior throughout makes for a comfortable stay and the spa is great each afternoon to rest those weary legs. Food at the hotel is as impressive as the dining room itself and the bar is not to be missed either.

This is a really unique hotel if you're looking for something a bit different on your ski holiday. The building dates back to the 16th century and there's lots of original features to enjoy. We love the stone walls, cosy rooms and log fireplace near the bar. It's less than a mile from Courmayer (there are regular buses) and close to the ski lifts. In fact, you can almost ski back to the door.
