Nestled in the centre of the stunning Chiesa di Lavarone, Grand Hotel Astoria has unrivaled views of the surrounding Alps as well as the sparking waters of Lake Lavarone at its base. This sprawling property has a homely feel, its goldenrod hued exterior a beacon of warmth amongst the surrounding pine forests and verdant hills. Comprised of 64 bedrooms, the interior is modest and understated yet classic with vibrant colours, marbled flooring and simple furnishings. The dining room and bar area have a wonderful coziness, taking influence from Austrian design as well as Italian to create an atmosphere of warmth with exposed beams and booths and tables made from locally sourced materials. The cuisine served is a mix of typical local fare and national specialties with the chefs taking influence from the islands of Sicily and Sardinia as well as the mountain resorts of Trentino.
The hotel's ethos of relaxation is countered wonderfully by the sporting activities on offer such as an indoor squash court, an archery room and children's play area. Bedrooms are simple with spacious bathrooms and views of either the lake and mountains of town square.
There is a fabulous indoor pool area looking out onto the gardens and the countryside beyond. Loungers and parasols are provided for you to use and there is an elegant piano bar offering day service in the garden meaning you can spend the afternoon looking out over the lake and sipping Aperol and Hugos to your hearts content. You can also head into the garden to the outdoor hot tub or the indoor Turkish bath and sauna in the spa centre to rest any weary limbs after a day exploring the resort.
Activities available outside of the resort include hiking and trekking the beautiful natural walks through the mountains and down to the lake, tennis, golf and climbing. Mountain bike hire is also obtainable from the Grand Hotel Astoria subject to availability and a local charge and is the perfect way of taking in the beauty of the town as even with the slope down to Lake Lavarone, there are plenty of flat and gentle inclines throughout the town to make it a more relaxing journey. If you'd prefer to forgo the surrounding slopes then you can use the bus stop to reach the nearest lift use of which will be covered by your complimentary Trentino card.
