This escorted tour will take you on a journey through ancient towns, stunning archaeological sites and to see Europe’s largest volcano, Mount Etna. On this trip you’ll have the opportunity to sample some of Sicily’s finest traditional dishes, in stunning Sicilian settings.

Day 1: Fly to Catania Airport and transfer to your hotel in Syracuse. Take a moment to relax and unpack before meeting your fellow travellers and tour manager who will give you an introduction to the trip.
Day 2: Your first full day will be spent exploring the beautiful ancient town of Syracuse, with its archaeological sites including the Greek Theatre and Roman Amphitheatre. You’ll really get to know the city with the assistance and knowledge from your local guide. Next you’ll head to the harbour where you’ll see the the old town from a completely different perspective as you take a boat trip around Ortigia and the bay of Syracuse. Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious local snack whilst taking in the sights on the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.
Day 3: Today you’ll head to Piazza Armenia, a town rich in art and history. You’ll visit Villa del Casale where a local guide will show you around the stunning Imperial Villa that houses beautifully preserved, intricate mosaics. For lunch, enjoy a Sicilian feast in a beautiful rural estate close to Piazza Armenia. After, the journey continues on to the beautiful hilltop town of Agrigento, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 4: Visit the Valley of the Temples, a beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage site. You’ll have the chance to explore the extensive archaeological site and see the great Doric temples that transport you back to the times of the classical Greek civilisation. After, the tour will continue on to Palermo where you'll enjoy a traditional Sicilian meal in a local restaurant.
Day 5: Palermo is at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and as a result you’ll notice the many different cultural influences, from the architecture to the food. Today you’ll gain an insight into this beautiful city and the ancient world it was once part of. See Palermo’s Cathedral and the Palentine Chapel. Head up from the city centre to Monreale, the hillside town that overlooks the fertile La Conca d’oro Valley beyond. Admire Monreale Cathedral with its beautifully maintained Christian medieval mosaics. Take a break from sight-seeing and enjoy a light lunch sampling some of the delicious snacks the on offer.
Day 6: This morning the tour will continue on to the picturesque fishing port of Cefalù. The impressive Norman Cathedral is a sight to behold with its fort-like structure and elaborate Byzantine mosaics. Here you’ll have time to explore the buzzing squares and streets of the medieval town, or perhaps even relax on the wide sandy beach, before heading on to Acireale.
Day 7: Go on an adventure to Europe’s largest and most active volcano, Mount Etna. Today you’ll drive through the ever changing mountain landscapes up to the volcanic lunar scape of Etna. In the afternoon you’ll head to the hilltop town of Taormina, Admire stunning views from the Ancient Greek Theatre, Visit the Duomo di San Nicola and explore the city.
Day 8: Transfer to Catania Airport for your return flight, or add on a few nights in Taormina to relax at the end of your tour.

Syracuse - Grand Hotel Villa Politi

Agrigento - Grand Hotel Mosè

The hotel is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden and has a swimming pool to cool off in after a day spent exploring the surrounding area. Just a short drive from Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, the hotel is perfectly located for taking in the sights. The rooms have traditional tiled floors and are furnished in an elegant style.
Palermo – Hotel Giardinio Inglese (May departures only)
The 19th Century building of Hotel Gardinio Inglese is surrounded by the beautiful and historic Gardino Inglese Park. Located close to the centre of Palermo. Guests can enjoy relaxed evenings on the sun terrace overlooking the rooftops of Palermo. The stylish Liberty style hotel has spacious rooms with balconies, providing a comfortable place to relax. Guests can enjoy a continental buffet breakfast offering fresh pastries, bread fruit as well as hot options.
Palermo – Hotel Palazzo Sitano
The Hotel Palazzo Sitano is located close to the historic centre of Palermo, making it a great base to explore the city and its beautiful sights. Acireale - Santa Tecla Palace
The Santa Tecla Palace is set in the Timpa Natural reserve right on the rocky shoreline of Acireale. The infinity pool overlooks the turquoise blue ocean (open seasonally). Relax here admiring views of Mount Etna. The hotel has a choice of restaurants serving traditional Sicilian cuisine as well as international options. The comfortable rooms come with a private balcony and provide a relaxing retreat for guests.
