Castello di Montaldo is perched on a hill in the Piedmont countryside, just a 20-minute drive from the city of Turin.
This impressive-looking building offers a peaceful escape for guests with just 39 rooms surrounded by manicured gardens and rolling hills. The castle is thought to have been originally constructed between 1011 and 1038, with additional wings and restorations taking place over the following centuries. Today, it’s been turned into a modern retreat with clean, crisp guest rooms finished in a minimalist style, an international restaurant and small bar.
Many people travel here for its award-winning spa (payable locally). This large space boasts an indoor pool and outdoor pool amongst the hotel’s gardens. There’s also a Finnish sauna, hammam, chromatherapy showers and four relaxation rooms – the perfect antidote after a busy day exploring Turin.
