At the Tenuta Monacelle you’ll be able to enjoy the best of Puglia’s quiet countryside and its ancient towns and villages – plus it’s just a short drive from the Adriatic Sea. This region is filled with trulli, Puglia’s traditional conical dry stone buildings. You’ll see them all over the countryside and you can actually stay in one of your very own at this hotel. It’s made up of six masseria (farm houses) and individual trulli that are surrounded by olive groves.
There’s a lovely large pool in a quiet spot at the edge of the property. We love chilling here with a good book. There’s a pool bar close by too, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink from the comfort of your lounger.
There’s loads to see and do here during your stay, especially activities surrounding the local traditions, culture, food and wine. You can learn about the local production of olive oil and taste it for yourself. Mid May to June is when the cherries grown on the estate are ready to harvest and you'll have the chance to pick your own. Take home more than just memories by taking part in a cooking class where you'll learn how to make some of the tastiest dishes that the locals love so much. If you're up for an active adventure, take to the roads on an e-bike and explore the rural lanes and surrounding countryside.
Thanks to the abundance of locally grown foods on the estate and in the locality – you’ll be sorted when it comes to good food. At the hotels Il Ciliegeto restaurant you can try the fresh produce accompanied by a glass of local red. Ask the resident sommelier for some suggestions.
Car hire is recommended for this hotel. Tenuta Monacelle is approx. 50 mins from Bari or Brindisi airport.
