Day 2: Porto Cervo

After a hearty breakfast, head into the glamorous seaside town of Porto Cervo built in the 60’s by the Aga Kahn. Whilst being a luxury resort, it retains a laid back Italian vibe. Admire the interesting architecture with Greek, Spanish, North African and Italian influences and browse the high-end shops. In the afternoon, head to the Santa Teresa di Gallura region at the northern tip of Sardinia. Here you’ll uncover the historical heritage of Sardinia with a visit to Complesso Nuragico di Lu Brandali with its nuraghe, ancient megalithic edifice. The complex dates back to the 14th and 10th centuries BC and is the site of the Giant’s Tomb, a gallery grave built by the Nuragic civilization in the Bronze Age. After, take a stroll along the scenic coastline to Capo Testa and admire the smooth granite rock formations, before heading back to the hotel in Porto Cervo for your evening meal.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3: Corsica

Today the group heads back towards Santa Teresa di Gallura where you’ll catch the ferry across to the French island of Corsica (approx. 50 minutes). Whilst on board enjoy the stunning views across the glistening blue water as you head towards the port of Bonifacio. The medieval fortified citadel sits in pride of place atop the white limestone cliffs. Weave through the narrow streets, uncover the history, and soak up the atmosphere of this vibrant town, before making your journey back to your hotel in Porto Cervo.

Day 4: Isola Maddalena

This morning the tour will take you to visit another of Sardinia’s idyllic nearby islands, Isola Maddalena. From Palau take the ferry across to the town of La Maddalena (approx. 20 minutes). Once you’re here you’ll feel like you have landed on the shores of the Caribbean, with its crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. The small island has an interesting history. Inhabited since the prehistoric ages, it has changed hands and even its name several times. Expect to relax in this stunning location that takes you away from the well-beaten tourist trails to explore its beautiful beaches and rocky coves. After a day of exploring you’ll head back to your hotel in Porto Cervo.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5: Aggius and Castelsardo

Head away from the coast and further inland. Today on the tour you’ll have the chance to see some of the inner regions of Sardinia. The first stop will be in the picturesque village of Aggius that's surrounded by striking granite mountains and gnarled cork oaks that date back hundreds of years. The town is famed for its traditional crafts, here you’ll get to learn about these crafts and techniques with a visit to the local cork museum. Next, head to Castelsardo on the north-west coast of the island. This medieval town towers above the sea and the surrounding landscape. Explore the ancient alleyways as you visit the town’s churches of Santa Mairia delle Grazie and Saint Antonio Abate, as well as the fortress and museum. Later in the afternoon, you'll arrive at you hotel in Alghero.

Alghero is one of the only remaining Italian cities with its walls and bastions still intact.
