We’ve had a very good start to the season here in St Christoph with some great skiing conditions and time on the slopes. The colder weather has started to kick in with some snowfall last week and more predicted in the coming week, meaning the ski area has some excellent snow on it. And then with the new gondolas opening we now have the chance to ski over to Zürs and take the free bus over to Lech to really experience the Arlberg area. Rendl has also recently opened and you can now ski from Rendl all the way over to Zürs, which is the start of the famous ‘Run of Fame’, new for this year.
St Anton is now busy with lots of people adding to an excellent atmosphere , especially the après, which is largely populated by guests and staff. Each resort within the Arlberg area offers something different, here in St Christoph we have a lovely vibe within the Chalet Hotel. The Chalet Hotel bar offers a fantastic selection of drinks, including cocktails like our signature ‘sex on the piste’. Over in St Anton there are lots more restaurants and bars to cater for everyone’s needs, whether you want to have a nice evening with live music over at Piccadilly’s or fancy getting some tasty Mexican food over at Bobo’s. In Lech and Zürs there are some great ski shops with a good selection of attire. While it can be a little on the pricey side, there are also some lovely restaurants which are worth a visit if you ski over there.
Almost everywhere around the Galzig peak is open whether you want to ski down to St Anton or ski back to the Chalet Hotel in St Christoph. It is all very easy to navigate around and you can take a challenging or easier route. There really are slopes for everyone with beautiful blue runs located at the top of the Christophbahn chair lift. Or if you are looking for a slightly more challenging route you can take black 58 down to the Schindlergrat chair lift which will then take you up near the Valluga peak. From there you can ski down to Stuben on red 85 followed by blue 100. Once you get over to Lech there are more blue run options which I have found to be great fun and quieter than here in St Christoph and St Anton.
We’re very excited for more snowfall which we are due over the next week. We can then hopefully see the rest of the Arlberg area open and give Schrocken and Warth a try. This will also open up the ‘Run of Fame’ so you can do the fantastic 65km route to really experience the full Arlberg area as you ski through most of the resorts, other than Sonnenkopf. This route is aimed at those that are red run confident and competent as there are some challenging parts to this route.
