Best Beer on The Mountain

With snow all over the alps, it seems we don’t have to worry about the quality of skiing this season, however we all know that on a ski holiday the après is just as, if not more, important. So www.snowangel.co.uk has been travelling around the globe to find where you can enjoy the best beers on the mountain…

For the View
The Top Mountain Star
At 3080 metres above sea level, you can see why we’ve opted for this bar as the best for views. With a 360-degree viewing platform, which over looks the Ozlza Alps and the Dolomites, the scenery here are spectacular. If it’s cold outside enjoy the views from the cosy, glass panelled bar where they serve up a huge selection of shots and cocktails. Our favourite here is the Obstler plum schnapps. If you are flashing the cash and there’s a group of you, you can hire out the whole place for 1000 euros and they’ll even put on a private piste basher to take you back down to earth at the end of the night.

One for the atmosphere
Mooserwirt – St Anton
This place needs no introduction. Playboy magazine has it down as the mother of all après ski huts and it’s been voted best ski hut in Austria several times by Kleinen Zeitung. People travel from around the globe for the atmosphere here. Bar tenders carrying several pitchers of lager and trays of jager circle the huge crowds that gather here every afternoon for some serious dancing in ski boots. Make sure you try the jager and milk – lethal. Then in true tradition ski the last run of the day into resort.

Homely feel
Bar Robinson – Morzine
This place is an après institution. A lively little French bar, Bar Robinson is run by two old ladies and a gent, all over 70 –years old. You won’t be spoilt for choice because they only serve one beer here – Mutzig, which is relatively cheap and super strong – apparently each barrel varies! Last orders are strictly 7.30pm, so don’t expect to settle in here, but it attracts locals and holidaymakers year after year for its homely feel.

One for the price
Le Pano Bar – Les 2 Alpes
This place goes off every day at 3pm… the happy hours here are legendary and with two for one beer from 3 -5 it’s where seasonnaires and holidaymakers head every day. The resident DJ makes sure it’s the liveliest straight from the slopes bar in resort. Expect a sea of boards and skis, so try to remember where you left yours as you’ll need them for the last black run down into resort. Great fun!
