We frequently review the below information with testing suppliers to ensure you continue to receive peace of mind when planning your holiday. However, due to the constantly evolving nature of the coronavirus pandemic and the potential for changes to travel testing requirements, changes can occur at short notice following new developments, relevant guidance and legal obligations.
Do I need a Covid-19 test before I travel?
As defined within the current government guidelines, you may be required to take a covid-19 test before you fly. You will need to check whether a test is required for the destination you are travelling to. You can find links to country specific requirements here, including whether your destination is on the UK government’s red, amber or green list.
The requirements could change before you travel, so it’s important that you keep checking the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) website for the latest updates – and we recommend signing up for their email alerts.
How do I book my Covid-19 test?
We’ve secured discounts with testing suppliers to make completing covid-19 testing as affordable as possible. Before booking your covid-19 test, check the requirements for the country you’re travelling to. It is your responsibility to ensure you have carried out the entry requirements for your destination correctly. You cannot use NHS testing for travel.
There are a choice of testing suppliers offering discounts to Inghams’ customers. You can book your test with one of the suppliers below or you can visit the UK government website for details of testing centres that have self-declared that they meet the government’s minimum standards.
How do I know what Covid-19 test/s I need?
The Covid-19 test package and supplier you require depends on the entry requirements of your holiday destination and the UK country you live in – check the requirements for the country you’re travelling to and from before booking your test package. The testing suppliers will be able to give you more advice. Please note the requirements when travelling to and from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales may be different.
If requirements in the UK or your destination country change before travel, you may need to make new testing arrangements.
- Fit to Fly PCR Test - this is for travelling from the UK, where a PCR test is required.
- Fit to Fly Lateral Flow Test - this is for travelling to the UK, where an Antigen Lateral Flow Test is required.
- International Arrivals day 2 and/or day 8 PR testing. For customers arriving into England that require the government-mandated day 2 and day 8 arrivals tests.

When returning to the UK, testing requirements will depend on whether your holiday destination is on the UK government’s green, amber or red list. It is possible that you will need to take a Lateral Flow Antigen ‘Fit to Fly to Return’ test in your holiday destination in order to return to the UK and/or to meet the test requirements requested by the country you are visiting. We have secured discounts for Inghams’ customers for the Remote Lateral Flow Antigen Test Kit from Prenetics.
