It’s hard to choose our favourite thing about Hotel Bellevue San Lorenzo. It’s too close a call between the infinity pool that looks out over the lake and the stunning gardens, where you can sit in the shade of an olive tree with a good book. It’s easy to spend an entire day relaxing here, dipping in and out of the pool to cool off. There’s a spa with a Turkish bath, sauna and sensory showers too. We love heading here after a busy day exploring.

When you arrive you'll find it hard not to be impressed. Well-manicured lawns surround six stunning classic Italian villas. The rooms are in the villas or the main building and are light and airy. Upgrade to one with a lake view and balcony if you can. The restaurant is fantastic and serves authentic Italian food including freshly caught fish and risottos. The menu changes every day so you’ll get to try lots.

Malcesine, which is about a 1.5 kilometres away, can easily be reached on foot along the lakeside promenade. The hotel have bikes available for guests to use, free of charge. Take the lakefront cycle lane into town or hit the road and head up into the hills for some of the best views over Lake Garda

Malcesine

Malcesine has a lot going for it and it’s perfect for anyone seeking an active holiday. It’s in the north of the lake so you’ve got lots of mountain trails to explore. The cable car goes straight from the town to the top of Monte Baldo, which is a starting point for lots of walk and cycles. The views from up here are incredible so we won’t blame you if you just want to sit and enjoy them instead. The town’s also big on watersports – you can try your hand at sailing or paddle boarding.

Malcesine is one of Lake Garda’s most recognisable resorts. Its beautiful 13th century castle makes it easy to spot from the water. If you go and take a closer look you’ll be rewarded with some pretty impressive lake views. They often have weddings here so you can imagine how romantic it is. The rest of Malcesine feels just as romantic thanks to the little cobbled streets and charming cafés. There’s a long promenade from the southern end of the town where you can walk for a few miles along the lake. There’s a busy ferry port too so you can head to some nearby towns like Limone or Riva very easily.
