Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

Hotel Cristallo is a charming hotel that has a very friendly and welcoming feel, thanks to the Moretti family who own and run it. It’s located about 15 minutes outside the centre of Malcesine and around ten minutes from the lakefront. The benefit of this location is that you get lovely lake views – especially from the terrace where you’ll find a few loungers. There’s more loungers in the garden by the pool.

The décor here is very traditional. Expect bright colours in the rooms and comfy furnishings throughout. The restaurant feels just as homely and serves local Italian food for dinner. After you’ve eaten, head to the bar for a night cap.

Transfer time: approx. 1 hour 30 mins by coach from Verona airport.

Malcesine

Malcesine has a lot going for it and it’s perfect for anyone seeking an active holiday. It’s in the north of the lake so you’ve got lots of mountain trails to explore. The cable car goes straight from the town to the top of Monte Baldo, which is a starting point for lots of walk and cycles. The views from up here are incredible so we won’t blame you if you just want to sit and enjoy them instead. The town’s also big on watersports – you can try your hand at sailing or paddle boarding.

Malcesine is one of Lake Garda’s most recognisable resorts. Its beautiful 13th century castle makes it easy to spot from the water. If you go and take a closer look you’ll be rewarded with some pretty impressive lake views. They often have weddings here so you can imagine how romantic it is. The rest of Malcesine feels just as romantic thanks to the little cobbled streets and charming cafés. There’s a long promenade from the southern end of the town where you can walk for a few miles along the lake. There’s a busy ferry port too so you can head to some nearby towns like Limone or Riva very easily.
