Niederau

A quiet resort in the unspoilt Wildschönau Valley, picturesque Niederau houses a pretty church and friendly cafés and is a superb base for a walking holiday. All our guests receive a free Wildschönau Resort Card (from 18 May 2019) giving you loads of freebies, including free use of all lifts in the Wildschonau & Alpbach valley. The Markbachjoch gondola in the centre of Niederau gives you access to miles of marked trails through lovely rolling hills.

Things to do in resort

Once you have taken the gondola up to the top of Markbachjoch (1,496 metres) there are many routes down with clearly marked paths, including the “Path of Contemplation” to Oberau, a one-hour walk which passes the Farmers’ Museum at Bach. There are many mountain alms dotted around including the “Kasealm” above Niedrau, and the more adventurous amongst you might want to try a spot of hand-gliding! If you prefer more traditional transport, a bus service operates along the whole valley, enabling you to make the most of this scenic region. For a bit of retail therapy, try the nearby town of Wörgl.
