Italy, Lake Garda
Nestling alongside lemon groves, beneath the cliffs of the north-western shore of Lake Garda, Limone is a picture postcard resort - an artist’s paradise. Houses covered in blossoming geraniums and bougainvillaea line the old, cobbled streets that lead up from the lakeside. The lakeside is equally colourful with two small harbours, old arches and a variety of shops - leather goods are a speciality. The Tourist Board organises free guided walks in the area and fireworks displays, cultural visits and concerts in the square most Saturdays. Limone’s bars and promenade really come to life in the evening. Our hotels in Limone offer you a great choice of accommodation for the perfect stay.
A night at the opera in the ancient arena in Verona must surely be one of life’s great experiences even if you’re not an opera buff. The 2017 programme (23 June - 27 August) sees the return of the all-time favourite Aida by Verdi loved for its lavish scenery and costumes. But there are also performances of Rigoletto and Nabucco by Verdi as well as Tosca and Madame Butterfly by Puccini. If you are staying in any of the main resorts on Lake Garda, such as Peschiera, we can book most performances (listed on the Verona opera page) and transport to and from Verona is included in addition to your opera ticket. Perfomances start at 9pm, but you will be taken to Verona in plenty of time to enjoy a pre-opera dinner in a restaurant of your choice.

The Sunday walk takes you to the hills above Limone through lush vegetation arriving at the top of Cima Mughera peak (1,161m). Here you will see some of the most fabulous views of Limone and the lake. During the descent to Limone along the old military road, you reach the Segala alpine farmhouse built in 1975 upon the ruins of a World War 1 military outpost. A reasonably moderate walk for keen and experienced walkers.

Taking the trail from the centre of Limone this tree lined walk takes you through pine trees, holm oaks and cypress trees. The trail gently zigzags up the hill and leads to Punta Larici and the Palaer alpine farmhouse. As you continue along the trail you will see a 'Calchera' (a limestone furnace typical of the area) and World War 2 sites. The trail ascends gently to an old World War 1 outpost overlooking Torbole where you'll have stunning views over the lake.
